About LookAhead from SurfWax, Inc.
LookAhead [TM] is the original "heads-up" dynamic query refinement tool. It lets you "type and see" results in real-time.
LookAhead Benefits --using an index instead of searching
LookAhead works great with a topic-based or controlled-vocabulary web site or lexicon.database. If you are using a web site (like Wikipedia) which has specific topics such as Brad Pitt or 911 Commission, then entering those topics via LookAhead lets you more rapidly see what topics are available and get to the end-page faster. If you want free-form search, where for example, you want any page that has the words "plaque" and "Mongolia" on it, then regular search works best.
LookAhead offers "what-you-see-is-what-is-actually-there" -- this is helpful both in confirming that the site/lexicon contains the topic you are seeking, but it can also provide additional "ah-ha" alternatives that you might not have thought of. For example, on entering Abraham Lincoln you get not only the main Abraham Lincoln topic, but you also see topics on Slavery, his Memorial, etc.
LookAhead applications
LookAhead is effective with:
1. web sites, databases, intranets, or lexicons with a defined index / controlled vocabulary such as Wikipedia.com 2. web sites, databases, intranets, or lexicons with an existing search capability, such as CNN.com 3. web sites, databases, intranets, or lexicons that can be crawled by SurfWax where we utilize our ExtractSum technology to create a unique, auto-generated controlled-vocabulary.
