Intel launches their new 11 Generation Tiger Lake CPU’s for slimmer and thinner laptops and notebooks.

Intel has recently launched their new 11th generation of Core processors for thin and light notebooks at a digital event. Intel already provided all the information regarding the technical specs of the chipset however, the chipset has now been officially launched. The new range of CPU’s is expected to be launched in the notebooks late this year. Along with it, Intel has also revealed a redesigned logo and a new Intel Evo branding for Project Athena Initiative. There are two different types of Tiger Lake CPUs that have been targeted for thin and light notebooks.

The two types are the U-series and Y-series. The offering has nine different processor variants to choose from, out of which Core i7-1185G7 is the most powerful chipset. The chipset comes with the base clock speed of 3.0Ghz, a single-core turbo boost of up to 4.8GHz, and an all-core boost of up to 4.3GHz. The chipset is also integrated with Iris Xe integrated graphics. When it comes to the design, the 11th generation chipset is still working on a 10nm node, which is the same as to what was used in the 10th gen Gen Ice Lake chipset.

However, the new generation chipsets are based on “Willow core” architecture, with SuperFin design to increase performance and decrease power consumption. The Tiger Lake has support for Wi-Fi 6, USB 4.0, Thunderbolt 4, and PCIe 4.0 interface for internal storage and DDR5 RAM, with additional support for Dolby Vision and the new AV1 codec. Companies that are planning to use these processors are Dell, Acer, Lenovo, HP, Samsung, Asus, and many others, with almost 50 different offerings in the market. The company also confirms that the processor allows a runtime of nine hours in a single charge.
