The new “Expiring Media” feature in WhatsApp will remove the media from your phone.

WhatsApp has been working on so many features for the app in the last few months and most of them are almost at the end of the testing phase. These features will not only make WhatsApp much more efficient but will improve the user interaction with the app as well. As per the new details shared from WABetaInfo, the company is working on a new feature called the “Expiring Media“. The new feature will make media files like images, videos, and GIFs sent to the recipient’s phone disappear once the recipient leaves the chat.

The feature of “Expiring Media” was announced a few months back, but this feature will be added as an extension to the existing feature which is already in testing mode. By using this feature the user can send the media files to the other user as temporary files. The feature could be made available through a dedicated timer button, which can be easily seen in the Beta testing images. Instead of touching the media button at the bottom, where the user enters text, they can select the timer button to add media for a specific time range or temporarily.

Once the other users check the media or images sent to them and leave the chat, the image will automatically disappear. It has also been confirmed that the feature is still in the initial phases of development and will be added in the future for both the iOS and Android users. Similar features are also available on Instagram, which seems to be the inspiration for Whatsapp.
