Samsung becomes the smartphone market leader in Q2 of this year, closely followed by Xiaomi at second place

Samsung has been the global leader when it comes to the smartphone market. The company has again topped the global smartphone market this year in the second quarter as well. Although Apple had a large number of shipments this year as well, which has dramatically increased over the previous quarter, it has still shipped to third place. As per the details, Samsung has a 19% market share as of now in the smartphone segment and it shows that the company’s business is increasing since the dip due to the pandemic last year.

The most crucial for them has been the increase in the number of sales for their premium smartphones Galaxy S21 and S20. Apart from that, Samsung has been very aggressive this year in releasing a lot of A and M series of smartphones in the market, giving them a very good grip on the middle and budget segment market of smartphones. In second place, however, is Xiaomi which has 17% of the market share and is coming very close to Samsung to take its position in the future. The company has also seen a growth of 85% compared to the last quarter and has been able to grow rapidly in many other countries.

The company has been able to gain more market share due to value for money products and their affordability. With the average selling price being 40% less than Samsung, Xiaomi is surely trying to take the place of a global leader in the smartphone market. However, the launch of multiple foldable smartphones from Samsung in the future and the launch of the iPhone 13 this year is also going to give a boost to other companies.
