Apple upscales the order for LiDAR chipset, due to huge demand for iPhone 12 series

It is no surprise to anyone that iPhone 12 is one of the best iPhone series the company has unveiled yet and the demand for the phone has been rising more than expected. A few days back news came that the company will be increasing its production of the iPhone models by more than 2 million units. Now as per the new details, the company is also upscaling the chip orders for iPhone 12 due to increased sales. They will be ordering chips for LiDAR scanners for the iPhone 12 Pro models.

The chipset used for LiDAR is Vertical-cavity surface-emitting (VCSEL). The move has been made as the pre-order for the iPhone 12 Pro has been increased from 2-3 days to 2-3 weeks, which would be the time the company needs to manufacture those phones. The company is also reported to increase the stock of the iPhone 12 to the maximum as it is expected to be the most sold phone in the series.

Although the company is expected to increase the stock for iPhone 12, it was also pre-assumed that the most sold phones from the company this year will be the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro. The increase in the chip orders and also their production units does seem to be a positive sign for the company and the way they have been planning for the sales of the new iPhone series. It does seem that the company is not going to run out of stock anytime this year.
