Cyber Outage reported for Garmin, a suspected ransomware attack

Garmin is one of the most reputed and popular US-based wearables and navigation device makers, with more than millions of users with their devices. Recently the company has suffered a major outage across its range of services and call centers. The services that were affected due to the outage were Garmin Connect, flyGarmin, and Garmin Pilot apps.

It is rumored that these attacks could be Ransomware, however, no such information has been confirmed by either the company or any other associated source. The company made an official tweet. They mentioned, “We are currently experiencing an outage that affects Garmin Connect, and as a result, the Garmin Connect website and mobile app are down at this time.

In the second tweet, they mentioned, “This outage also affects our call centers, and we are currently unable to receive any calls, emails, or online chats. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and apologize for this inconvenience.” The problem persists, and the company website and other services are still down for anyone to access. If it is confirmed as a Ransomware, then there is a huge risk that the users’ data can be leaked.

Also, such attacks have increased over the years, and more than 50% of organizations worldwide have had such digital attacks. Such attacks put the customer’s data at risk and stop companies from taking any action that can resolve the issue. Currently, Garmin is trying to seek out the issue, and they would not want their users to panic from the news of Ransomware
