Google adds a new Contacts Tab to Gmail

Gmail has been added and updated with a lot of new features and UI improvement lately. Now the company has announced yet another feature for the platform. As per the announcement, Google is adding a new tab in the Gmail web client with the name of Contacts. The new contact tab which sits alongside Google Calendar, Keep, and Tasks tabs, will provide “richer” details about contacts such as phone number, email address, previously exchanged emails, and more. Currently, when the user hovers over the name of the person, they are able to see the complete details of the contact.

With the new update and new tab on the side panel, users will be able to see elaborate information in a much more streamlined way. The feature will be available to all the Google Workspace users with subscribed plans. In the future, the same feature will also be available to all the personal Google accounts as well. With the new tab, users will be able to view additional information such as team and manager, office and desk location, and more. The contact tab will also include options like quick buttons to access the option of sending an email, starting a conversation on Google Chat and Google Meet.
