When it comes to premium flagship phones with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, the very first mobile to launch this year with it would be Xiaomi Mi 11. The company is about to launch the smartphone on December 28 and ahead of the launch, the company has started posting teasers and promos with a sneak peek on the features that the users will be able to use. The latest teaser of the smartphone shows a new feature on the Miseries, which is the video night mode.

Now one definitely has the night mode when it comes to capturing the images on the phone, but it was still not available on the video mode in any smartphone. A video posted by Xiaomi on Weibo, the microblogging site, shows a clip of a music box in the dark. The clip was supposedly captured using the new Mi 11 and it shows improved low-light video recording capabilities, most likely through the video Night Mode. The feature used advanced computational photography while capturing the video and is going to be a part of the Mi 11 series.

It is confirmed that we will be seeing a Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro at the launch and it will be supporting a 2K display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. The phone will also have the 108MP primary camera sensor and will have 55W fast charging feature with 12GB of RAM powering the phone. It is expected that more features will be leaked or teased by the company before the official launch.

When it comes to the market of the chipset, two of the major competitors Qualcomm and Mediatek have always been ahead of the competition with Qualcomm having a marginal lead. However, this time Mediatek has taken the leap and has become one of the biggest smartphone chipset vendors with a 31-percent market share in the third quarter of 2020. The major market for Mediatek in the terms of growth has been China and India, where the company has got its majority of sales from.

However, when it comes to 5G enabled chipsets, Qualcomm still seems to have the lead over Mediatek. One other major reason for the growth of Mediatek seems to be the deteriorating growth of Huawei due to the US sanctions. As per the reports, more than 100 million smartphones were sold globally in the third quarter this year with Mediatek chipset and the company expanded its market share from 31% to 26% before. At the same time, the market share of Qualcomm has dropped by two percent from 31 to 29%. However, Qualcomm still holds 39% of the market share for 5 G-enabled chipsets which do seem to be a very strong point for the company.

As per the details, the sale of 5G enabled handsets have increased by double over the last quarter giving Qualcomm the edge in the 5G smartphone market. As per the official statement from Counterpoint Research Director Dale Gai, “MediaTek’s strong market share gain in Q3 2020 happened due to three reasons – strong performance in the mid-end smartphone price segment ($100 – $250) and emerging markets like LATAM and MEA, the US ban on Huawei and finally wins in leading OEMs like Samsung, Xiaomi, and Honor.

A few months back Samsung confirmed that they are currently working on their new chipset, which is the Samsung Exynos 2100. The chipset was meant to power their most premium flagship device such as the upcoming Samsung S21 series, which is due to launch in November along with the chipset. The chipset had a direct competition with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 which has been launched this month. Now, in a recent test on the GeekBench platform, it has been revealed that the Exynos 2100 is actually outperforming the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 in the multi-core test.

The details were given by Ice Universe, which is known for the confirmed leaks and reports for Samsung. In the benchmark test, the Exynos 2100 chipset went through a synthetic test and managed to receive an impressive score of 1089 on single-core and 3963 on multi-core. It actually surpassed the score of Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, which achieved 1135 points and 3794 points in single-core tests and multi-core benchmarks respectively. The GeekBench scores for the same in the earlier months were less and have increased substantially since then.

YouTube video

It shows that Samsung is not done with the chipset and is still optimizing it to increase the performance of the chipset in the latest devices it will be used on. We can expect the Exynos 2100 chipset to have much better performance and benchmark scores at the time it is officially launched and used in the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. We hope to see more such benchmark results before the official launch of the chipset.
