Samsung S21 series demonstration video released on Youtube hours before the official release

Although Samsung is going to unveil the new Samsung Galaxy S21 series a few hours from now, new leaks have already emerged for the phone showing complete details. The new hands-on video is and live images provide all the details of the smartphone series and most of the images are from the official listing of Samsung. The video has been posted on Youtube by the channel name We the Techies. The video shows the Samsung Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra in Phantom Violet and Phantom Black color. 

Same images have also been shared on the Twitter platform by the channel and it appears that it was meant for demonstration purposes. The Galaxy S21 Ultra seems to be the thickest of all the three models that Samsung is going to launch and the video also mentions that the phone is thicker than the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The video and images confirm that the phone will have a glass back, which is something most of the premium segment phones are coming with right now. 

However, the matte coating on the same gives it a plastic finish. The phone comes with 4,800 mAh and 5,000 mAh batteries respectively and there is no card slot for the Ultra model. While the other two variants will have the support for 1TB MicroSD card slot support. The video shows a complete 360-degree animation of the phone and also confirms that the pre-order for the phone will also get the customers a free Galaxy Buds Live. and Galaxy Smart tag Bluetooth tracker. 

Vivo announces Y31s, the first smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset

A few days back, Qualcomm announced their new series of smartphone chipsets, which was the Snapdragon 480. It was supposed to be a more affordable chipset, aimed to provide the users with a 5G connectivity feature. Now Vivo is all set to launch their new smartphone Y31s, which is going to be the first smartphone in the market with this chipset. The Y31s comes with a 6.58-inch IPS LCD display and has an FHD+ resolution with a 90Hz refresh rate. 

The front display also comes with a waterdrop notch which also holds the 8MP selfie camera. The rear houses a dual-camera setup and a led flash, where the primary sensor is 13 MP along with a 2MP depth sensor. The Vivo Y31s supports both mmWave and Sub-6 GHz 5G networks. Qualcomm has confirmed that the new SD 480 chipset will increase the performance of both the CPU and GPU by two times when compared to the previous generation SD 460 chipset. Also, users will have the option of selecting between, 4/6GB RAM and will get 128GB of storage.

In terms of battery, the phone will have a 5,000 mAh battery capacity and 18W fast charging capabilities. It will be running the FunTouch OS 10.5 based on Android 11 and is offered in gray, gradient, and red colors. The phone is expected to cost $232 for the 4GB RAM version and $263 for the 6GB RAM version. The memory on both remains the same. Looking at the specs, it would be a great and affordable phone with 5G technology.

Day 2 at CES 2021 came up with lots of exciting announcements and even flying cars

CES 2021 day 2 saw a lot of announcements regarding new projects, concepts, and product launches. Some of these major announcements included the Asus ROG laptops, which are the ROG Flow X13, ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE, and Strix SCAR 17. The Flow X3 is an ultra-portable gaming laptop with a 360-degree hinge and is powered using the  AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS processor paired with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. The ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE comes with the ROG ScreenPad Plus is powered using the MD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor paired with Nvidia GeForce GTX 3080 GPU. 

Lastly, the ROG Strix SCAR 17 has a 360Hz refresh rate display panel with a 3 ms response time. It has been powered using the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor paired with 64 GB of dual-channel DDR-3200 MHz memory. At the same time, AMD unveiled its Ryzen 5000 series mobile which is based on the latest Zen architecture and provides unprecedented levels of performance and battery life for gamers. Lenovo has also selected the day to launch their new set of ThinkBooks, called the Plus Gen 2, ThinkBook 13x, ThinkBook 16p, and ThinkBook 14p laptops. 

Starting from $849, these laptops will range up to $1,549. The event also saw the launch of the Fossil Gen 5 LTE smartwatch which has been priced at $349 and will support Verizon‘s 4G cellular connectivity. Another expected launch was the Samsung Exynos 2100 chipset based on the 5nm architecture. It is Samsung’s first 5G-integrated mobile processor built on a 5nm EUV manufacturing process. Lastly, the major highlight was the flying car concept the eVTOL, or (electric) Vertical Takeoff and Landing droid by GM.

TikTok making changes to its privacy settings for users under the age of 18

TikTok has made new changes to its privacy settings today to its app which is aimed to provide a much safer experience with the app for younger users. As per the new changes in the app, the accounts created for users between the age of 13 to 15, will be marked as private and not public by default. Apart from keeping the account private, the company will be tightening up the controls for all the users under 18 as well. These changes will not only affect the way younger users interact on the app with other users but also how they provide and view content on the app. 

The company is also announcing a partnership with a non-profit company called Common Sense Network, which is an education and advocacy group that helps parents and educators navigate today’s media landscape, including children’s use of technology. It will help TikTok in getting more guidance on the appropriateness of its content for users under 13. The changes have been brought to TikTok as a result of %5.7 million fine that the company had to pay to the Federal Trade Commission for violating U.S. children’s privacy laws.

The earlier version of TikTok called ByteDance was also known to collect personal information for children under 13 years without the consent of the parents. With the new changes, the company will change the “Suggest your account to others” settings to off. Also, the video for the users will only be seen by the followers and their accounts will not be recommended to others. The changes also aim at limiting the interaction of the children with such a digital platform to make sure that they only get to interact with age-appropriate content.

Gigabyte launches new mid-range gaming laptops with AMD’s Ryzen processors

When it comes to Gigabyte, they have been knowing to offer customers some of the best gaming hardware or specifically laptops in the market. However, it has been a lot of time since the company has released a premium flagship gaming laptop. Gigabyte has now unveiled a new range of mid-range gaming laptops in the market, which has mainly been aimed at a younger crowd. As per their official press announcement, “Gigabyte Gaming series target Gen Z and Millennial users, by offering up machines built for ‘multitasking’ and meeting multiple needs at once, whether it’s learning, commerce, gaming or content creation.” 

The two laptops that have been launched are the A5 and A7 which will be powered using AMD’s Ryzen mobile processors, which is the Ryzen 5000H mobile series. The laptops would also include Nvidia’s new GeForce RTX 3000 series graphic card. The laptops will be starting from a range of $999 and $1,399. The specs offered on the laptop is great and provides excellent performance and great battery life as well. 

The laptop will also come equipped with either a 144Hz or 240Hz display and will have the GIgabyte’s Windforce cooling system as well which has anti-turbulence inclined fans and ultra-quiet PWM fan along with pure copper heat pipe. The overall specification of the laptops and the price they have been offered at with the Intel 10th generation processors provides the laptops balanced performance and a great value for money. The laptop will be made available by the end of February in the market.

Tim cooks says that everyone responsible for the US Capitol protest should be held accountable

After the protest from Trump supporters in the US Capitol, many companies have been trying to show their support in different ways, stating that the protest and loss of life are not justified in any way. Google removed the social media app, Parler, from the Google Play Store, which was one of the major platforms for Trump supporters to connect. Similarly, Apple chief Tim Cook said that all those including Trump who was involved in the deadly attack on the US Capitol should be held accountable, no matter who they are. 

Tim Cook said, “I think no one is above the law. We’re a rule of law country.” The statement was made in an interview with Cook at the Apple headquarters in Silicon Valley. The CEO did not mention the name of Trump but did say that anyone and everyone involved in this should be held responsible. He said, “I don’t think we should let it go. This is something we’ve got to be serious about. I think holding people accountable is important.”

Similar to Google, tech companies like Apple and Amazon have also cut their ties with Parler and have accused the platform of posting and allowing the users to post messages that incited the violence on January 6. Recently, even Twitter removed the account of Donal Trump for the same reason as it was seen posting tweets that asked people to join the protest. Trump’s social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitch have already been banned.

Realme Race could launch later this month

Realme is all set to bring the new premium flagship handset to the market with the name Realme Race and it is supposed to be their first premium handset that will be powered using the Qualcomm Snapdragon  888 chipset. The phone will be the first flagship for the company in the year 2021, but there has been no official confirmation about the launch date yet. The details of the phone were leaked a few days back, but now more details are out, courtesy to the leakster Ice Universe. 

The Weibo post mentions that the phone will be fueled using a 5,000mAh battery and powered using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. The phone will also have 12GB of RAM and will also feature 125W ultra-fast charging support. The phone looks very similar to Oppo Ace 2 and it has also been claimed that it is an enhanced version of the same phone which was launched in China. The phone is also expected to come with a circular camera unit in the rear and a hole-punch display. 

The phone does not have an official date of launch yet, but as per the rumors, the phone is expected to release by the end of this month, which might also see the launch of many other products as well. It is expected that there will be more leaks about the phone before it is officially launched. However, for now, it seems that apart from the SD 888 chipset, the phone will bring a lot of similar elements from the Oppo Ace 2 handset.

Redmi K40 to launch next month with Snapdragon 888 chipset

Redmi made an announcement last year that they will be launching their new premium flagship device in the market in the year 2021 and it seems that the company is all set to do so next month. Redmi GM Lu Weibing in a Weibo post confirmed that the company will be launching the new Redmi K 40 next month with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. As per the details, there will be multiple variants in the Redmi K40 series and the top-end variant will have the SD 888 chipset only, which will be named as K40 Pro. 

The company has also confirmed that the battery capacity of the smartphones will be more than 4,000mAh and the starting price of the series would be around 2,999 Yuan, which is approximately Rs 34,000 in Indian currency. The K40 series will be a direct successor to the K 30 series, where the K30 series was meant to be the mid-premium segment smartphone. The last phone announced in the K30 series was the K30 Ultra was launched with the Dimensity 1000+ chipset from Mediatek and had a 5G processor as well.

It is expected that not all the variants from the K40 series will be powered using the Qualcomm processor. It might be a possibility that the initial variants are powered using a Mediatek processor and the top variant with SD 888. The phone is also said to have the 108MP camera sensor as in Mi 11 from the company which was released on December 28, 2020. We can expect to see more details in the form of leaks in the coming days before the launch.
