When we talk about wearables or compact devices like smartphones, we also come across many companies who tried to make smart glasses that could replace smartphones in terms of functionality. However, to date, no company has been able to create such a device due to the complexity it includes. The next in the line to make the concept come to life is Xiaomi, which has recently displayed a smart glass that will be an alternative to smartphones in the future. Xiaomi will not be the first company to try it, but the demand and requirement for such smart glasses have not been high in the market.

Most of the companies who tried making it had to drop the products as it causes discomfort on the eyes and head due to long hours of wearing and working with it. The smart glass presented by Xiaomi looks like ordinary glasses at first, however, it has a thick frame that includes all the components. The company claims that the chip used in the glasses is micro-LED optical waveguide technology. It can be used for calls, viewing messages, GPS navigation, taking photos, and more. It has a 0.13-inch microLED display with a pixel size of 4 microns. It offers deep blacks and bright pictures.

As per Xiaomi, the human eye will be able to see a much larger picture and will be easily able to recognize everything on the screen. Infact, all this functionality is done by a single lens only instead of using multiple lenses and glasses. The smart glass would be made of 497 individual components and the users will be able to interact with the device through the XiaoAI voice assistant. The front of the smart glass includes a 5MP camera with a light indicator to let the users know when it is being used. There is currently no information it will be commercially available but it would be interesting to see how Xiaomi takes this product ahead in the future with more innovations.

Google understands that cloud storage is the future of storage solutions without having the need of having a physical storage device. It is why they have recently introduced a new subscription service for Google One, which provides the user with 5TB of storage space on the network disk. Previously, Google One provided an option of 2TB and 10TB, now, they have provided a more suitable capacity of storage, who wanted more than 2TB of cloud space and less than 10TB. The subscription price of 5TB storage space has been kept at $24.99 per month or an annual fee of $249.99.

The user will also get a 10% rebate after the purchase, which can be used on Google Store. The subscription not only provides the access to storage space on the network but also many other extra benefits such as the option to add a family account to the subscription and VPN service for Android smartphones. When we look at the competition, it might be more expensive than the others.

After Apple launched iPhone 12 last year, they officially entered the 5G smartphone market space and now it will be carried forward to their future smartphones. Apple is already prepared to launch its new 5G smartphone on September 14, which will be iPhone 13. Although Apple has been late in entering the 5G smartphone market, it has already managed to capture around 24 percent of the total 5G smartphone market. Also, as per a report that has been recently published by Counterpoint, the company might be looking to have around 33 percent of the total 5G smartphone market by 2022.

Therefore, the data claims that the company is going to sell a large number of 5G smartphones when compared to the competitors. The company has already planned to ship 200 million 5G devices in the Q4 of 2021 and 605 million 5 smartphones. As per the reports, there will be a significant increase in the demand for 5G enabled smartphones in the future and this is where Apple will have a lot of advantage in capturing more of the 5G market.

Despite the lack of supply of chipset and other components, the company has been able to meet the demands on the market on a regular basis and it is what has provided the advantage to Apple in the smartphone market. With many smartphone companies providing affordable 5G smartphones, the road seems to be full of competition ahead, but Apple seems to be the clear winner in the coming days as per the predictions.
