Ever since the epidemic started, voice and video calls have become a lot more important as they help to connect people both personally and professionally. Facebook Messenger has been one such tool that has helped people to connect with each other for free using their video and voice calls feature. However, when the user tries to place a call through Facebook, it automatically redirects them to the Messenger app and initiates the call from there.

This might not remain the case anymore in the future as Facebook has been allowing a handful of users to use voice and video calls directly from the main Facebook app. The feature has been activated from them only on a trial basis from now and it would make making calls a lot easier on Facebook. Although users will be able to make the calls from Facebook’s main app in the future, they will still need to use the Messenger app for the same to use all the features it has.

Also, since Facebook has been trying to integrate messenger with Instagram and WhatsApp, they would allow users to make calls from Messenger to any contact on Instagram and WhatsApp as well. There is no confirmation from Facebook as to when the feature will be launched to all the Facebook users globally as the feature is still being tested for any kind of bugs. However, this feature would not leave the users dependent on voice and video calls on the standalone app of Messenger.

A few hours before new leaks appeared about iPhone 13 which suggested that the new smartphone would include a Touch ID under the screen, which is similar to what Android flagship smartphones are also providing. An in-screen fingerprint scanner would be a new feature for iPhone 13 if it comes this year. However, as per the latest reports and news, the feature might not be present in all the variants of the iPhone. We all know that every year, Apple launches multiple variants of the iPhone, which would include the Mini, basic version, Pro version, and the Pro Max version.

It is expected that Apple might be adding the in-screen Touch ID sensors only in the Pro Max and Pro variants. It means that the Mini and basic version of the iPhone 13 will still continue to have the FaceID feature for security, while the higher variants will get the additional Touch Id sensors under the screen. Although this might sound a bit odd, it should have been a feature that should have been common in all the variants.

Although nothing has been confirmed by Apple till now about the addition of Touch ID, it is almost confirmed that it will happen. Also, the company has already been working on the new in-screen Touch ID for a long time now and it was almost time that it was introduced in the iPhone similar to what Android flagships are offering. We do expect a lot more surprises from Apple before the official launch as new news and leaks about the smartphone continue to appear on the internet.

Google to add new changes to review and rating system for apps in Google Play Store

One of the best ways to know if an app on the Google Play Store is good is through its rating. However, when we look at the rating, they are not listed as per the device they have been installed on or the country where it was installed. Therefore, it becomes difficult for a user to know if the app is suited for them and the location they have to use it from. Now, Google is changing the way you view the rating on the Google App Store. They will be adding more filters to it so that the users can view only the reviews which are more helpful to them.

One of the major changes that will come through for any users is that they will be able to view the reviews for the app in their own country or location. This will not only help them to understand if the app has been useful for people in their country, but will also help them to avoid comments related to any app bug that is specific to a location or country. Google confirms that this type of change was requested by both the developers and the users as well.

They will soon be adding a new filter in the reviews next year, which will filter the reviews based on the device the user is using. If the user is using a tablet, the reviews will be based on people who are using the app on a tablet. Since the experience of the app varies based on many different conditions, getting filtered reviews will provide a much better understanding of an app. The changes will be applied later this year and many changes will also be brought in next year.

If you have been using Instagram, then you must have seen Stories that ask the users to swipe up to visit a link or a page. It has been a feature on Instagram for a very long time and now they have finally decided to part with it. It was one of the major ways through which Instagram content creators used to direct viewers to their page or a product link. However, starting from August 30, the feature will no longer be available on Instagram.

As per the sources, the swipe-up feature will now be replaced with link stickers. Instagram has been testing the new link stickers on their platform since June and only a few users had the access to it. However, the feature will now be available to all the creators and business accounts who are verified and have a certain number of followers on their accounts. Link stickers bring in a lot of customization options for the creators which allow them to use different styles of stickers, different colors, and they can be placed anywhere on the screen for stories.

Another feature that has been added to it is that the viewers will be able to react to the stickers, which was not possible in the swipe-up feature. Instagram has confirmed that after the global launch of the feature, they will be further working on creating new link stickers with new designs and customization, to provide creators with more options. If you are a content creator or have a business account that is verified, you will be able to use it from August 30.

It would not be the first time that an iOS update has caused an issue in the iPhone, but Apple has been always ready for such instances, providing a quick resolution for them. Apple pushed an update for iOS in July with version 14.7.1. Although there were not many issues with the update for global users, there has been a large chunk of iPhone users that have been facing issues with cellular connectivity. The major issues that the update resolved were the security issue with arbitrary code which could be executed with kernel privileges and issues that prevented Apple Watch from unlocking the iPhone for mask-wearing users.

Although both the issues were resolved for everyone facing it, it created a new issue where iPhone users lost cellular connectivity after installing the update. The issue was raised by many users on the Apple Forum and other platforms with the initial post related to the problem spotted a week back. The users have already tried resetting the phone, resetting the network settings, and using a new sim card. Although, the issue seems to persist in the smartphone.

As per a support document provided by Apple, users have to make sure that they are in an area which the cellular provider covers and should attempt a carrier update setting update. It can be done from Settings>>General>>About. If there is an update, it will show and can be downloaded. In most cases, the issue has been resolved and Apple is already working on a new fix for users whose iPhone is still not working.
