Many companies have been working on a transparent glass screen for a long time but none has been able to provide a device that could use a transparent screen and is commercially available. But it seems that Xiaomi will be the first to use this technology in their smart TV’s. They have just launched their new smart TV named Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition, which is the world’s first transparent TV to be mass-produced commercially. Xiaomi did show a lot of details about the TV in the press blog and have mentioned a big part of the success in designing to Samsung.

The TV seems like an edge to edge transparent self-luminous display transmitting images. A lot is still needed to be discovered about this new technology from Xiaomi. It does seem like all the mechanism of the TV that used to be at the back of the TV is now placed to the bottom of the screen in place of the stand. The smart TV has an aesthetically pleasing circular base stand, which will have all the controls and hardware necessary to run the television. The screen is said to be a transparent OLED panel which does not require any kind of backlighting. The screen is pure glass, that is why it is made in a way that it will remain “On” all the time with some fancy art. It will help people to differentiate it from normal glass.

The company has also confirmed that they are using the all-new AI Master Smart Engine in the TV for refined graphics and higher resolution for vibrant images. The product does seem very promising and would definitely be a treat for eyes in the real-world test. However, it might still take a while before it is commercially available for sale and testing as well. The TV will be a 55 inch unit with a 120Hz refresh rate and Meditek 9650 under the hood. The TV will also support Dolby Atmos and will be priced at RMB 49,000. Smart TV will be available in China from August 16. There is no information on the global availability of TV yet.

There has been a lot of fuss about the Chinese app TikTok and its ban in various countries like the US and India. As per the government, TikTok was passing on the customer data back to China without their authorization. TikTok has been constantly denying the allegations ever since and has been trying to put their side in the conversation as well. However, as per the recent leaks about TikTok, it seems that the company was dealing with unethical practices. It was found that TikTok was collecting user device data for months through the Android app, using a technique that Google has prohibited the developers from doing for a long time now.

The technique is prohibited by Google as it cannot be used without the consent of the user. The report was provided by the Wall Street Journal. Although TikTok has not been doing this since November last year, the findings have added to the problem of the platform that it has been facing for a long time now. Due to the very same reason the company is facing a threat of a complete ban in the US. As per the report, TikTok added an unusual layer of encryption to hide the tactic and then took advantage of a security hole to collect the data. The data currently state the problem only for the Android users, however, it might be a possibility that the same problem might also exist for iOS users.

The tactic is currently being associated with advertising goals but the details will be further checked to know the real purpose of such data collection. Google has not yet given any clarification on the same but has been investigating the issue. It is also hoped that Apple would be checking similar things on their end as well to make sure that any such loophole does not exist at their end.

The device will have the Snapdragon 855 chipset and a 3,577 mAh battery. The processor does seem to be an odd choice for the device as the Snapdragon 855 chipset was released last year, and the company should have gone for the latest 865 chipsets to add new features to the phone. Another thing that could be a bummer for the phone is the battery capacity of 3,577 mAh. With dual-screen and a powerful processor, it does seem that the phone will hardly give a day’s usage with balanced usage.

However, a lot will depend on how the OS has been optimized as per the device. Other details about the phone reveal that it will have a single camera of 11MP which will be placed on the top-right display along with LED flash. The camera will also have a superzoom feature with a digital 7x zoom. It is said that the phone will be great when it comes to multitasking and will be a game-changer in terms of productivity when used by professionals.

It will work with all the existing Android apps and will come with 18W fast charging out of the box. The phone will come in 128 and 256 GB variants and will have 6GB of RAM for fast performance. Currently, the phone would only launch in the US market and later in the global market. However, Microsoft has not announced anything yet about the launch in global markets.

Ban on Chinese Apps and software has been a global phenomenon and Apple seems to be getting the maximum impact from the same. Recently, the US government decided to ban Chinese apps ByteDance and Tecenet from doing business with American companies. As per the government, it poses a big threat as data of American consumers could land into the hands of the Chinese government. The US government has also banned apps like TikTok, where rumors started building up that Microsoft is in talks with Tiktok to buy their US operation.

As per the recent details from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the outcomes from this ban could lead to a large impact on the phone exports and sales of Apple iPhone. With the worst-case scenario predicted for Apple after the ban, they could see a drop of 25-30% in the sales of the iPhone and a drop of 15-20% in the sale of Apple accessories. A ban on Tencent would lead Apple to remove WeChat from their App store, which is one of the primary apps to be used in China. WeChat is not only used for communication, but also for shopping, payments, news, social network, and various outer productivity tools.

With the app on the App Store, the sales of Apple iPhone would drastically drop in the Chinese market. With the decline of the iPhone, the company would automatically see a drop in the sale of accessories as well. However, in the US, the ban of WeChat would only lead to a 5-6 % decrease in the sales of the iPhone and a 3% decrease in the sale of accessories.

There was a huge excitement among the Xiaomi fans regarding the two new smartphones that were launched yesterday on their 10th-anniversary event. As per the details which were available in the past, the two handsets Redmi K30 and Mi 10 Ultra would have been launched in China and then later on in the global market. However, as per the latest news, both the smartphones will not be launched globally and will only be exclusive to China.

After this news came out, people were expecting that Xiaomi might bring out these phones with changes under a different brand and model name such as POCO. However, the company ruled out that possibility as well and confirmed that the same model will not be released globally under any other sub-brand name or model number. The news came out as a big disappointment for people who were expecting Xiamoi to bring out both these premium models in the global market. It seems that the tension between China and other global countries might also have a hand while Xiaomi decided not to launch these phones.

There is other news about the upcoming Poco F2 Pro as well, which is expected to provide almost the same kind of performance as the Redmi K30 and is soon expected to launch as a global variant. However, unless the models come out and are launched by the company, nothing much can be said. POCO F2 Pro is a smartphone that has been long expected from the fans and users of POCO F1.

Microsoft has been working on a new Windows 10 update, which is expected to bring many new features to the operating system. As per the latest leaks and details, Windows will have a completely redesigned clipboard, which would change how the user copy-paste files. The new Windows 10 update gives users a giant clipboard where you can insert emojis, clipart, Gif, and other content. These clipboards will be common to every application you use and can be used to copy any content to another app. A clipboard is used to store or save a text, image, document, etc., which you have recently used.

The clipboard that is added in the Windows update will allow the user to use the recently used GIF, text, and images. However, if you have copied something to the clipboard in the past, you can access it from the Clipboard history and used it to paste. The new clipboard update will not be system-specific and will sync across various devices at one time. Therefore, you can access the content on the clipboard using different devices. There is also an option in the system setting where whenever you copy the text, it will automatically be copied to the clipboard.

When it comes to clipboard history, it can save up to the last 25 entries, which could be great for users if they are regularly copy-pasting a few words. The new feature for Windows 10 is expected to launch somewhere in the Spring of 2021, and until it is launched, we can expect a lot more from Microsoft.

Russia’s competition regular FAS has been doing a serious check on how the App Store and Google Play store is abusing its dominance over its platform. A few days back, Google has to face similar antitrust abuse claims, and this time, its the App Store. The issue was reported to the authorities when Apple blocked the Kaspersky’s Safe Kids parental control app on the App store. To this, the regulatory bodies determined that Apple was abusing its control over the App Store and how it would behave on its platform.

As per the companies, Apple has been trying to make it say an important on-screen time feature, which combines parental control and well-being a feature. FAS’s head mentioned that it is very important for apple to set down policies where they are not discriminating between multiple apps on their platform. They either have to reinstate the application as it was or have to loosen its policies for application on the App Store. FAS has been awaiting a reply from the Apple authorities and will be taking an appropriate action based on that.

Apple rejected or demanded changes to apps like Safe Kids in Kaspersky as it was against their privacy policies. As per them, the profiles could be misused to install malware. However, multiple companies have accused Apple of not providing enough information and details before blocking their apps or providing them information on very short notice. With more problems for Apple in other countries, such as the Antitrust issue in Europen Union and Competition concerns in the US, they face huge pressure from the global market.
