When it comes to smart devices and especially companies that have been making smartphones, almost every company has created its own smartphone to provide seamless connectivity to users across devices. It seems that now a non-smartphone-based company is entering into the smartwatch arena. Facebook Inc has been reportedly building a new kind of smartwatch for the users which will let them send messages and also offer health and fitness features. The company is planning to launch the smartwatch device next year in the market and would compete directly with the Apple Watch.

The smartwatch is expected to come with a cellular connectivity option through which the watch can be used to send messages on Facebook and do other activities without the use of a smartphone. Using the watch, users will also be able to connect to health and fitness companies, such as Peloton Interactive, etc. Facebook is currently neither denying nor accepting the rumors about the smartwatch but it seems that the reports about it are genuine and we can soon see some more details about the smartwatch that they have been trying to develop.

A request was made by Reuters to comment on these rumors, but Facebook has not responded to any of them yet. We do hope that we get to see some renders and more leak details about the watch in the future. The watch made by Facebook is expected to have some really unique features related to a Facebook platform that will not be available elsewhere.

Chrome to add a new feature to tabs to help manage them better

One of the major issues that people face while using a web browser is managing multiple tabs that are open simultaneously. Google Chrome is reportedly trying to create a new feature that will make handling dozens of tabs together much easier for the users. Chromium developers are allegedly experimenting with different widths of tabs when the tab scrolling feature is turned on. The major changes for this feature will be brought in to Chrome 88, where the users will be able to enable the tab scrolling feature via a flag.

The feature will make sure that the tab does not look squished while multiple tabs are open at a single time. While Firefox and Safari already have a similar feature, Google Chrome is finally joining the list. Apart from this feature, Google Chrome has been working on multiple other features as well at the same time. It is testing different widths in Chrome Canary 90. With tab scrolling enabled, there are options to shrink tabs to pinned tab width, medium width, large width, or no shrinking at all.

Having different options will help to identify multiple tabs easily. It is not yet clear how the feature will finally come out when it will be released but it will certainly make using the tabs a lot more easier. The feature is currently in the testing phase and there is no news as to when the feature will be developed and offered to the users. It might be a couple of more months before the feature is rolled out.

Apple can soon be releasing their new product in the month of March which is the Apple AirTags. As per the details leaked by Jon Prosser, Apple is all set to release the AirTags in March and it is almost confirmed as of now. The Apple AirTags details were first leaked in the month of August last year when they filed a patent for the technology that they have been using to create it. The device will be a tracking device and will allow the users to pair it with a smartphone or tablet. Apple had placed an emphasis on the functionality of the multi-interface transponder (MIT) device in the patent.

In terms of hardware, it is expected to have a simple processor, light and motion sensors, radio stack, and power core. It can also be attached to the wallet, keys, and other kinds of ids. The device can be used to track devices and even people. One can use it to track down important belongings or even smartphones when paired with an iPad or iPhone. The device will communicate with other devices nearby and enable, “intelligently boosting beacon transmission depending on determined location and proximity to nearby devices.”

Something very similar was also in the news by Samsung last month which has been named as SmartTag and SmartTag+. It would be a Bluetooth-LE tracker that can be used to find the lost objects. The price of the device by Samsung is expected to be $29, but there is no confirmation on the expected price from Apple for AirTags.

Samsung recently pushed the One UI 3.1 update for the Galaxy S20 FE which was launched last year. However, only a few hours after the update was released the smartphone owners are unable to find it. The update does not seem to be available anymore for the Galaxy S20 FE. A similar issue happened last month with the Galaxy S10 One UI 3.0 update, where the update was pulled out hours after it was announced.

Samsung has not released any kind of official statement on the same but it is expected that the update had various kinds of performance issues after it was installed. Some of the most common issues that were observed from the users around Europe were unreliable SMS notification, slow down, and battery drainage. It also seems that the update that was made available was currently only limited to European countries and the issue also seems to be reported from the same area as well.

It seems that Samsung will soon address the issue and will make another update go live for all the eligible devices. It is not only Samsung, but similar issues have been observed with smartphones from Mi, Apple, and more where the updates did bring in a lot of new bugs on the smartphone due to which the update had to be pulled back. We can hope that Samsung will soon resolve the issue users have been facing in the update soon and that we will be able to see another update in a couple of days.

In a recent bug that was detected in the Apple Macbook Pro, the users were unable to charge their batteries above 1%. Apple already acknowledged the issue, and now they are offering a free battery replacement for such devices. For getting the free battery replacement one simply has to go to an Apple Store or Apple-authorized service provider. The most common models that were affected by this issue were Macbook Pro 2016 and 2017 models, both with two and four Thunderbolt 3 ports.

To make sure that you are facing the same issue and will be eligible for the free battery replacement, check if you are getting a Service Recommended status shown on the battery health. To check simply go to Apple menu > System Preferences, click Battery, click on Battery in the sidebar, and select battery health. In the older Macbook Pro, you simply need to hold the option button and click on the battery icon on the top right.

The issue came after an update to macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 or the latest supplemental update of macOS Catalina 10.15.7. If you are seeing the same status for your battery on the Macbook Pro, then you can get your battery replaced without any kind of cost. However, in any other case with the battery, Apple will not be providing any kind of free services. Before you go for the free battery change, make sure to backup all your data on the laptop, just in case, to make sure that you have a protected backup

Instagram to stop recommending videos on Reels that have TikTok watermark

After the ban of TikTok in the Indian app market last year, Instagram has been providing users with a similar platform called Instagram Reels. Reels allowed the users on Instagram to post small videos similar to that of TikTok. As the platform on Instagram continues to grow, however, they are now going to make a new update to Reels. Till now, global users on Instagram used TikTok to record the videos and then upload them to both the TikTok and Instagram Reels platforms. However, it seems that Instagram does not want that as it shows Reels as a secondary platform to TikTok.

As per the latest report, Instagram is making changes to its algorithm where if the user uploads any video on Reels with a TikTok watermark, it will not be recommended in Reels to the other users. Instagram will not be banning the video or removing it in any way, but they will no longer be promoting it on their platform. As per the official statement from an Instagram spokesperson, “We’re building on what we’ve learned from Explore to recommend fun and entertaining videos in places like the Reels tab and personalize the experience.

We are getting better at using ranking signals that help us predict whether people will find a reel entertaining and whether we should recommend it.” The change might turn out disappointing for customers but it was necessary for Instagram as it made TikTok more popular on their platform. Unless the TikTok videos do not have a watermark, Instagram will continue promoting it on their platform as well.
