One of the most popular features of Amazon Prime Video is the “Watch party” where multiple people can watch the same movie or episode together. The feature has now been made available in the Indian market for the users which would be very similar to how Netflix extensions work. The “Watch Party” allows the user to stream a Prime Video title with up to 100 friends or family at the same time. However, all the hundred users need to have the Amazon Prime membership and a non-Prime member will not be able to participate.

The feature will not only allow the users to watch the title together but also chat with them in a sidebar. All you need to do is pick a title and Amazon will handle all the synchronization. This makes Amazon the first video streaming platform in India to bring this feature for its users. However, you can only use the feature through a computer and now a smartphone. You would have to log in to your Prime account on Primevideo.com and use browsers like Chrome or Firefox.

Once you login, check the title you want to watch and you will see a watch party button on the top. Clicking on it will ask you to select a chat name and will also provide you with a link to share with the friends. The user who initiates it will have the access to video controls like pause, play, rewind, and fast forward, Amazon notes. The choice of controls for participants is only limited to the choice of audio and subtitle language

Microsoft is making changes to Invasive M365 Feature After Privacy issues

One of the most criticized features from Microsoft for Microsoft 365 was the feature to track employee usage of applications like Outlook, Skype, and Teams, which was widely condemned by privacy experts. Due to this, the company has now announced a new privacy-friendly version of the same feature to replace the older version. The Productivity Score feature, as it was called, was launched as a part of the Microsoft 365  productivity suite to provide companies data about the employees utilizing the technology.

The idea behind the feature was to score the employees based on the metric collected from Microsoft 365. An employee who has been using more of Team, Outlook and Skype might get a higher or better score than others. However, the major flaw as per the experts behind this was the privacy concerns. As per the official statement from Microsoft, “At Microsoft, we believe that data-driven insights are crucial to empowering people and organizations to achieve more,Jared Spataro, corporate vice president for Microsoft 365. We also believe that privacy is a human right, and we’re deeply committed to the privacy of every person who uses our products.”

The feature was criticized as an overreach of data collection by enterprises and was also called the most invasive work-place surveillance scheme yet to hit the mainstream. Due to this two major changes were added, where the first feature will remove user names and their associated actions from the product, meaning that organizations will no longer be able to track individual activities over a 28-day period. The second change will modify the user interface to make it clearer that Productivity Score is a measure of organizational adoption of technology and not individual user behavior.

The new Android Auto app update would allow the app to open automatically when connected, even when locked

When it comes to smartphones, the most basic features that the users want while driving their cars is automatic connectivity with their smartphones. Android Auto app was launched with a similar vision and Google is now trying to make the app better with more features that would reduce the human interaction while connecting the phone to the car. The app would let you access a limited set of optimized functions while driving. To do so you would need to connect the phone to the car infotainment system initially through a wire or wirelessly.

Now Google is working on a new feature that allows their smartphones to connect with the car infotainment system without having to unlock their smartphones. Currently, the Android auto app opens automatically after being connected to the car infotainment system. However, after the app was checked by developers, there were certain codes and programs which brings out a possibility that future updates of the apps will help to connect the phone automatically without unlocking it.

For now, it is not clear if the function is available for both wired and wireless connections, but it is something that can only be confirmed when a future app update activates the function. The new feature could be a great fix to connection failure problems in the app, where the phone remains automatically connected no matter if the phone is locked or unlocked. It will also allow the Android Auto app to immediately open automatically with the users doing so manually.
