Before FAU-G was launched officially on January 26, 2021, it was one of the highly anticipated games in the Indian market after PUNG was banned. The game was able to get more than four million pre-registrations before the launch and also more than a million pre-registration 24 hours after it first appeared on the Google Play Store. The game without a doubt was able to stir a lot of excitement among the gamers and now the game is again in the news, but for the wrong reason.

There is no doubt that the gamers had a lot of expectations from FAU-G as it promoted itself as an alternative for PUBG. However, the gameplay was nothing like it. The game initially provided only campaign gameplay with limited features and options, with the other option like Battle Royale showing as coming soon. The game has started losing its popularity after the popular launch and from being 4.5 in rating at launch, it has been continuously deteriorating, which is currently 3.5.

However, when checked there are a lot of controversies about the game as well. When checked it was found that most of the reviews were from people who have not even played the game or are dedicated fans of PUBG. However, the developer’s nCore Games are expecting that this issue will soon be resolved and the game will regain momentum in the future. Developers have already announced that they are currently working on new features of the game and will soon be adding a lot of new elements.

The ban of TikTok in many countries led to an excellent opportunity for other social media companies to use the same feature and attract the users of TikTok. Instagram was the very first platform to gain the advantage of the opportunity and started rolling out a new feature that allowed the users to make such short videos. Now, the platform has added yet another feature that will soon be introduced to global users as a vertical feed for stories. The vertical feeds are completely inspired by TikTok and provide the users the option to view stories in a vertical video feed format, which is the same as TikTok.

Reels was earlier introduced by the company to imitate what was earlier offered to the users from TikTok. The features were spotted by Alessandro Paluzzi on Twitter, after which he shared the image on the same platform revealing it to people. The reports state that the feature is not live yet but the changes have been made to the internal code of the Instagram app which is in the works. Since the feature is in the early stage and has still not been developed completely, it might take a while before the feature actually makes an official entry on Instagram.

The growing popularity and millions of users on the TikTok platform do show that other platforms like Instagram are trying to embrace the same to attract a larger group audience. While Instagram has been experimenting with Reels, platforms like Youtube has also been doing it with Youtube Shorts which is turning out to be very popular.

One of the major elements that help in making a topic or a news trending is hashtags and it is something that is used on almost all kinds of social media platforms as well. Although Google has used the same elements in Google+, it did not turn out to be successful for them and was killed. Although Youtube, which is a part of Google, is still using the same elements, it seems that Google is now again trying to experiment with new features using hashtags.

The company is trying to add and integrate hashtags in the cards that appear on Google Discover, which is somewhat very similar to what one can see on Youtube. The cards have a couple of hashtags showing up near the bottom of each card. The experiment by Google is mainly focused on making such cards more trending by using these hashtags, which can be used on social media, which will also help in displaying the cards.

The hashtag will be able to provide the users with more relevant cards, videos, and links for the same or similar content. For example, clicking on a hashtag like #hills will make Google show you similar content on hills that people are searching for right now and which is more relevant. The new feature is already live right now and can be used to discover new things. However, what Google really wants to achieve with the new feature is still unknown, neither have they revealed any details about it.

Apple is bringing back Touch ID built inside the display

With the iPhone 5S, Apple brought in the Touch ID function which was based on fingerprint recognition technology. However, after the company decided to launch the iPhone X series, they replaced the physical Touch ID button with the Face ID feature. It not only helped the company to reduce the bezel size on the display but also increase the screen size to the edge of the phone. Since then, Apple has been improving Face ID technology and has been using it on every device.

However, with the innovation of in-display fingerprint scanners, a lot of people were expecting Apple to add the same feature back again, without compromising on the display size. Now it seems that Apple might be adding the feature to the upcoming iPhone 13 series this year. As per the reports, Apple is planning to add both Face ID and in-display Touch ID in the latest iPhone series that will launch this year. The main challenge that the company had to face was the use of LCD retina display.

YouTube video

However, since the company has now adopted an OLED panel for display, the issue will no longer be a concern. The addition of the in-display Touch ID function will make unlocking the device a lot more easier and convenient for the users. The reports of Apple developing this feature has been confirmed by The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg as well. It is only a matter of time until the company confirms it and we get to look at it through leaks.
