Netflix is adding a new Shuffle Button to their Platform

0

Netflix is one of the most popular online streaming apps globally and a user base of millions. The best part about the Netflix service is that the user has almost unlimited titles and series to watch from. It is what sometimes confuses the user as well. A user spends a lot of time in a never-ending catalog of what to watch before deciding a series or movie to follow.

In this activity, the user does seem to miss many exciting and engaging content, which might appeal to their interest. Netflix did acknowledge the problem and was working on it for a long time now. Finally, they have decided to roll out a shuffle button on the Netflix app. The information was first made available through The Independent UK and users on Twitter and Reddit. However, the feature has not been rolled out globally.

As per the Netflix spokesperson, the feature is still in the second phase of testing and might be revoked in the future. Once the testing is complete and the feature seems to get positive feedback from users, it will be made available to other regions. The shuffle button was added to Netflix TV shows in December last year, after which it was recently added for movies as well.

It will be a great feature for those who find it difficult to select something to watch from a big catalog of content. However, if the user is interested in watching only a specific type of genre in movies and drama series, then the shuffle feature will provide them with random suggestions. Rating shows and movies watched by the user earlier on Netflix will help show similar shows and movies in the shuffle option, as it will optimize the Netflix algorithm. Users are hoping that this feature is tested soon and rolled out globally for Netflix users.

Apple faces another penalty from Samsung on OLED Screens

0

Clashes between Apple and Samsung are very common, and recently it seems that Apple paid around $1 billion penalties to Samsung for selling too few iPhones. According to a report released by Display Supply Chain Consultants, Apple paid around $950 million to Samsung as a one-time payment for purchasing fewer OLED iPhone displays than required.

As per the sources, Samsung in Q2 has released the operating profit report without including the one time gain related to display business. Last month, news from TheElec reported that Apple paid around $745 million to Samsung, which later turned out to be $950 million as per DSCC cites sources.

Samsung operating guidance could have gone into losses if Apple had not paid the amount, but now the operating guidance is up by 23% profit. The same kind of issues also repeated in Q2 of 2019, where Samsung claimed another penalty from Apple for not buying enough OLED displays as the agreed level.

However, the claim was not settled in cash at that time and was managed through increased order, equal to the penalty amount. Apple is known to make such an agreement for a minimum buying quantity to keep the minimum purchasing rates. However, due to Covid-19, Apple has not been able to sell as many units this year. It eventually leads to less production and less OLED order from Samsung, thus attracting the penalty. However, the company plans to increase sales and production in the coming months to compensate for slower sales due to Covid-19.

A couple of months back, there were many rumors about OnePlus releasing a new device that is going to be affordable and will have the premium design and features. There have been many rumors and leaks in the past for the phone, which revealed the design and specs of the phone slowly to the consumer way before the actual launch.

OnePlus has now confirmed that they will be giving free OnePlus Nord smartphones to their users through Twitter. They tweeted an image of OnePlus Nord with a giveaway announcement for the brand lovers.

Any person above the age of 18 is allowed to participate in the giveaway. However, another condition is that the person should have travel papers to Paris, which is surprising.

You can finally claim your stake in Apple’s 500 Million Settlement

0

The iPhone battery gate saga is well known and one of the biggest controversies for Apple. The controversy of throttling the iPhone with aging batteries led to a class-action lawsuit. As per the latest information from MacRumors, a website has been assigned for US consumers of iPhone to claim for Apple’s settlement amount. However, not just anyone can go and claim for the same, as they need to fulfill certain criteria for that. To claim the settlement amount, one needs to own an iPhone with the below-mentioned conditions.

An iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, and an iPhone SE that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later before December 21, 2017

An iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus that ran iOS 11.2 or later before December 21, 2017

Apple will be shelling out $500 million as a part of the settlement, where every customer will be getting $25 for every eligible device. The company has also claimed that if the total claims cross the amount of $500 million, then the $25 per device amount can also decrease further. The website link was to collect information about the number of claims and affected cases. The website will confirm and verify your iPhone’s serial number.

Until the final hearing that needs to be conducted on December 4, 2020, any further changes to the settlement amount or method are unlikely. However, as soon as the decision is taken, the company will distribute the amount to the customers. Apple customers were disappointed with the issue after the company apologized for not being transparent to decrease the performance of older iPhones to compensate for battery life. The comers had to face a lot of criticism and had to face a lot of investigations for the same. But since then, they have been really careful in being transparent with the consumers about any changes they push through the updates.

Users may soon see an Apple App on Windows

0

Apps developed for Apple are much faster and user friendly than the apps created on other platforms. It is why the number of users globally for Apple apps is much more than any other operating system. Recently, one of the most popular blogs, Aggiornamenti Lumia has suggested that Apple may be working on an application that will be released on Windows 10. Any further details on what the application could be and how it is being developed have not been disclosed. However, it will be very curious for users to know about Apple’s app, specifically designing for Windows 10.

It is not the first application that Apple would be designing for Windows. A version of iTunes already exists on the Windows operating system, which is the only way users can access Apple music on Windows. The current version of iTunes compatible with Windows has been discontinued and has been replaced by many standalone apps such as Music, TV, Books, and Podcast. Another service that the Windows users can use is the stream from Apple TV, but for that, one needs to visit Apple’s website.

Due to this feature, it is expected that the new application that will be launched by Apple will be associated with Apple TV, which can be used directly on Windows operating system as a portal for Apple TV and Music. The company has also been working with engineers for application development for the Universal Windows Platform. So it might hint that they are probably going to release the Windows-based application soon enough.

Until the next update, we can only expect Apple to provide the same quality application that people have been experiencing in MAC. There is still no verification or sources to back the claims from Aggiornamenti Lumia, so we still have to wait for a few more such news from other platforms.

Big Changes coming to Chrome for Music and Video

0

Google Chrome is, without a doubt, one of the best browsers in the world, with the maximum users globally. Ever since the browser was released, it has provided a better and enhanced experience at browsing data on the internet. With regular updates on Google Chrome, the browser is now one of the fastest and most secure among its category.

Google Chrome will soon be launching new upgrades to the browser, allowing you to control the music and video on it without switching between the tabs. Therefore, you can continue to work on whatever you are working on and control the music and video right from that window, without switching to the tab where the content is streaming.

Google Chrome is planning to add a floating control panel on the browser that you can use and control regardless of the tab you are working on. It will allow the user to play, pause, stop, and skip media without changing the screen and drop what the user is working on. The features were easier spotted by Chrome Story, which was expected to be in development. However, recently XDA developers, a forum for Android developers, have successfully enabled the floating window via a flag, which is used to control the experimental feature before release.

It’s not the same as Google has made it more refined and have scrapped many functions that were not needed in the panel. Similar functionality was added by Chrome easier where a play button appeared on the browser toolbar to control the music and videos.

The only problem with that feature was that the user had to switch between the tabs, which seems to be removed in the new floating window feature. This feature will surely make much more sense and provide better usability of Chrome while listening to music or watching videos.

The product is listed on Google Playstore with specification expected to run on Android 9, and output of 1080p that can run at 60fps. The technical specification seems to be on par with what is offered by other companies in the market.

YouTube video

Like the other popular TV stick products, this will also support Widevine L1for full HD content display. The only thing that is left now for the company is to release the product officially. The product’s box also showed support for some of the streaming services like Netflix, Youtube, Disney+, HBO, Spotify, Twitch, Google Play Store, Prime Video, and a lot more. The product seems to be a great package and will provide good enough competition to other products in its category. It is also expected that Xiaomi will be launching the device at very aggressive pricing, which is supposed to be way lower than its competition.

Google Bans Ads that track and monitor users without permission

0

Google has been questioned a lot about the ads and the regulations that allow tracking the user’s details. Ever since they have been under scrutiny for the same, the company has been very careful about their products and ads learning about the user’s whereabouts and usage behaviors to target specific ads.

As per the recent update from the tech giant, they have banned ads used to spy and track the users without their permission. Google has already banned a lot of such applications on the Google Play Store for the same reason and will continue to do so in the future.

The information was released by the company in its Ad policy update this week. The update will be implemented from August 11 and will ban any Ads and services that have been secretly tracking the users. As per Google, they would never allow any ad or app on their platform, which compensated the user’s privacy without their permission. The apps and ads can be used for surveillance by monitoring text, browsing history, and calls. The same data is used by the ads to target specific ads to the customer that they might have browsed before.

However, the policy changes do not implement the applications that have been installed by private investigation teams and parents to monitor their children. The company has also made it clear that any advertiser who cannot follow these regulations will see a suspension of the account within seven days of the warning period.

However, it raises a question on why these ads and applications were approved in the first place by Google. Despite the ban on such things, companies are still pushing such ads occasionally through the application, which would help them avoid detection. Google will possibly be taking more stringent action on such app developers and advertisers in the future.
