Collabora is an online productivity suite based on LibreOffice and is one of the most efficient and popular tools for users. The software or platform is completely open-source and provides the same kind of productive tools and productivity as you expect from Microsoft Office. The application works very similarly to that and also Google Docs and Sheet, where it allows the collaboration of documents to work on them simultaneously. The platform can be used both offline and online as a part of an enterprise suite.

The users can currently install the application on Windows or Linux and can also access the files using the mobile application on iOS and Android. Now, the office suite has been optimized for Chrome OS and is available for Chromebooks via the Google Play Store. The news is great for Chrome OS, which has been adding some major features to the platform since its release in 2010.

After Google released its Chromebooks, even Asus and Samsung have been promoting them and have offered new Chromebook models under their brand name. With the integration of apps like Collabora, the user engagement of Chrome might see a rise in the number of users and Chromebooks used by them.

The Collabora Office Suite on Chrome OS will come with a large amount of optimization for better performance. However, users will not be able to use Google cloud platform to store their documents from Collabora. It only uses Nextcloud and ownCloud for storing documents instead of Google’s or Microsoft’s cloud storage. The reason for this is the safety and privacy of user data. The software can be accessed directly on Chromebook or used on the web, by registering for the Enterprise account. One can also try out the demo for their paid enterprise suite, which claims to provide better productivity than Microsoft Office.

Xbox is soon going to release its next-generation console in November. It is expected that the new console is going to be much more powerful than the last generation console and even more powerful than the Playstation 5. Recently a new image has been leaked, which shows a new Xbox controller in white color, leading to speculation that the new console could be white.

The photo was released on Reddit over the weekend, after which the account and image were deleted. Identified as “Wolfy_Wizzardo“, the Reddit user claimed to have snapped the photo at a party in Washington state hosted by a Microsoft employee child. The new D-pad and the new share button that Microsoft will be shipping on the next-generation controllers can be noticed on the controls.

As per the controller’s looks, it is estimated that the new controller will be a bit more squarish and will also house a larger button when compared to the previous controller. Another important detail leaked by Reddit users is that the new console’s UI will be the same as Xbox One and will only have some minor changes and tweaks. Microsoft Xbox will continue using the same theme and UI as it has been used and appreciated by the users for the ease of navigation and usage.

While everyone is waiting for November, a new cheaper console is also expected from Microsoft in August. Therefore, it could be the case that the controller might belong to this new console as well. When asked about the same to the Microsoft team, they said, “We have nothing further to share at this time“”. Microsoft has been mysterious about the next-generation console and what changes we are going to see in them. But with regular leaks surfacing online, we don’t complain.

Intel Core i9 is one of Intel’s most powerful processors, and before today, announcement was only used in laptops and other devices. The company has now added the Core i9 processor to the family of Comet Lake desktop CPUs. It is expected that it will be the most affordable i9 processor to date and will be the i9-10850K, a slightly lower-clocked version of Intel’s flagship 10-core i9-10900K processor.

When compared, the desktop chip will be clocked 100MHz lower than the 10900K in every aspect. When it comes to the new chip’s pricing, it is expected to be priced at $453 a chip, where the price will be $35 less than the 10900K.

Apart from the difference, the chip will be one of the most powerful for a desktop lineup and will provide incredible performance at the given price. The ship will still feature a ten core configuration along with a Comet Lake’s full HD 630 integrated GPU. The chipset will also feature the K series chipset’s high-end features, which is the Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB).

When it comes to comparing the new chip, there is not a big difference between the 10900K and this chip. However, the pricing between the two is not much of a difference. Intel has not been able to create a new chip, which could overtake the performance of 10900K chipset, and they are using the chipsets for the desktop series. It is expected that the price of the chipset in retail could go a lot higher.

Fast charging has been the new selling point in most of the mid-range and premium range smartphones. Most of the smartphones are running towards a bigger battery as the quick charge option charges the phone in the least time. Following the trend, Qualcomm has announced Quick Charge 5, which is known to charge a 50% battery on your smartphone within 5 minutes. Now that would be fast when it comes to charging your phone through a cable. The quick charge technology will come with many new safety and speed enhancements for safe and quick charging.

As per Qualcomm, “Quick Charge 5 is the first commercially viable fast charging solution that supports over 100W and is available for phone makers to use today“. When compared to the quick Charge 4, the performance is 70% higher. The quick charge was tested on 4500mAh phone, where 50% of the battery was charged in 5 minutes and a full charge in 15 minutes. It has support for 2S (stacked) batteries and 20 Volts of power delivery.

Instead of trusting the rating, the charging technology will monitor and verify the current, power, and voltage behavior to adjust the power output. It will not only charge the phone properly but will also increase safety while charging. The good things about the technology are that it will be backward compatible with version 2.0, 3.0, 4, and 4+ and take advantage of USB-PD and Type-C. The Quick Charge will be supported on both mobile devices and laptops is also supported by Snapdragon 865 and 865 Plus, as it is used in all premium and future smartphones. Google has been active these days with many new updates and features being added to their products. In the same line, Gboard will also be adding a few more features to its list. The first feature would allow the users to add images in the clipboard, instead of just text. The feature was long-awaited and requested for the users and has finally been delivered. Also, Google Lens integration on Android is coming soon to the feature list.

Both the features are said to be released on the stable and beta versions of virtual keyboards. The support of copying images on the clipboards will be one of the most useful features for Gboard users.

No users can copy images and paste them on clipboards or any supported fields. However, the trickiest part lies in copying the image. While Google Chrome (v84) has started to support copying images on Android, you might not be seeing the option in other apps. But the option will be added to Android 11, and one can copy the images by simply tapping and holding them to select “Copy.” The only sad news to this is that the pasting facility is currently available in only 21 applications on Android which are AOSP messaging, WhatsApp, Facebook, Viber, Line, OK, WeChat, Messenger Lite, Snapchat, Motorola Messages, Google Messages, VK, Skype, IMO, Samsung Messages, Zalo, Google Docs, Twitter, Badoo, Hangouts, and Helo.

It might work on Telegram as well for some users. When it comes to the Google Lens feature, Google has removed Google Search functionality in Gboard in favor of Google Lens. As per them, Google Lens usability is more practical in real-world scenarios. Both the updates have already been released and are available after updating the device to the latest version.

In some countries, summer can be really hot and going out in such weather is not less than sin. It is the reason why people like to stay indoors or outside in an environment with air conditioning. However, it is not possible to carry such heavyweight and electrical air conditioning everywhere. If you have ever wished for your AC to go around with you everywhere, Sony has heard you.

They have recently announced a new device calledReon Pocket“, a wearable Air condition. They have launched it through “First Flight“, which is the company’s incubator-cum-crowdfunding platform. The device is meant to keep the users free of sweat in hot summers. The device is easy to fit in your palm and is portable in size.

You will have to keep it in a dedicated inner that you will have to wear inside to use the device. The inner is designed as a “V-neck” T-shirt, and it comes with a pocket to place the device right between the shoulders, on the back. The device can be used with the application installed on the smartphone.

The application will be available for both iOS and Android smartphones. The device will connect to the app using Bluetooth, and you can use the application to maintain the temperature inside. The device has been initially launched in Japan at the price of 13,000 yen (~$122) or Rs 9,107. However, based on the product’s success, it can be expected to launch in other countries as well.

Apple trying to integrate “Vein Detection” to Face ID

Face ID is one of the most secure authentications as per Apple, and there is no way that anyone can bypass through the face scan unless it is the user. Ever since Apple launched the Face ID feature, they have been trying to update it with new features, bug fixes, and software updates to increase its effectiveness and security. Apple was a trendsetter when it comes to Face Unlock in smartphones. However, Apple still has the best FaceID security system in iPhones, almost impossible to breach. In a step to make it more secure, Apple is working on a tech that would integrate Vein detection and recognition along with the Face ID tech.

There were cases where Apple Face ID failed in cases of twins. However, with the integration of Vein detection, it would take the veins on the face and its structure into consideration before allowing access. A recent patent was granted to Apple by US Patent and Trademark Office, where it is mentioned that they are researching the way to detect the veins inside the skin of a human face to make Face ID more secure for their future devices.

The system will detect the veins through the camera and create a 3D map of users’ veins using the sub-epidermal imagery techniques. The mapping can be done using the existing sensor on the phone, which is the IR sensor, and nothing additional needs to be added in the camera module.

Apple confirms that the future of security for smartphones is biometric locking, and with the ability to map veins on the face, it will be impossible to match the face, even in case of twins. The feature will be useful and further increase the privacy of the user data. The company has also filed a patent for a new dedicated UI for underwater iPhone usage or the crazy foldable iMac one.

Tesla has been trying to expand its production ever since its demand for electric cars has increased many folds. Due to this, Tesla is now increasing its supply solution by opening massive plants to manufacture these cars and parts. In this, the company has confirmed that it will be opening another manufacturing plant in Texas, which is  5 million sq. Ft in the area. The announcement came from CEO Elon Musk at the recent second-quarter earnings meeting.

Elon Musk confirmed that a $65 million tax rebate deal by Travis County and a district school led to selecting Austin, Texas, as the final destination for setting up their plant. Elon Musk seemed excited about the decision and said, “It’s going to be right near Austin, five minutes from Austin International Airport and about 15 minutes from downtown Austin.” It is expected that the manufacturing plant will be used specifically for the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck, the Semi Truck, the popular Tesla Model 3, and even the Model Y. The best part about the deal is the employment opportunities that the plant will generate.

It is estimated that it will generate at least 5000 low skill jobs with at least $15 hourly wage for an employee. The CEO confirmed that after the plant has been constructed, it will be open to the public for various recreational opportunities as the land, according to Elon, is an “ecological paradise“. The plant is based on a location that is very close to the airport. Therefore, it will provide better transportation access to the company as well.

Many Apple users expected the company to launch a range of devices in the event later this year. However, it seems that we might see an additional launch this week. The expected device is the new iMac, which is expected to launch anytime this week. The iMac will be upgraded in hardware, but do not expect to see any changes in the system’s design. The outer chassis is going to remain the same as the previous generation. The details reveal that the new intel-powered iMac would be released now, as expected to be revealed in the  WWDC 2020 event.

It was also rumored that Apple might build its chipset and use them in the new iMac and Macbooks. However, since the company has not announced the hardware and chipset, they will continue to use the Intel chipset configuration. Also, an unannounced iMac with a 10-core Intel i9 CPU and Radeon Pro 5300 GPU appeared in Geekbench testing results earlier this month, which is expected to launch alongside the new iMac or later in coming days.

The launch date could be guessed this week as the leaked details for the new iMac are showing as “ready to ship“, which means that the product is ready to be sold in Apple stores. The details came from the Twitter account @L0vetodream, which seemed to be accurate.

The chassis will also remain the same for intel powered iMacs as it is expected that the new design will be brought in after the company starts using the Apple Silicon processors. It makes perfect sense as the new chipset, and the new design of the iMac will inspire the users to upgrade their old iMac. Lastly, there has been another rumor about the discontinuation of the Fusion Drive in favor of an iMac lineup that includes SSD storage across the board and Apple’s T2 security chip.

Instagram assures iOS users of not snooping on users camera

As soon as iOS 14 was released, one thing was clear that the OS has a lot of new features that make sure that the user gets to know when the data or camera is being accessed by the application installed on their device. The new iOS added many privacy features that did not allow us to randomly use the camera of the device without the users knowing about it.

After this update, a lot of issues came with apps like LinkedIn, Reddit, and TikTok, which copied the content from the clipboard without letting the users know about it. Now the name of popular app Instagram has been added to the list, where users have observed that the indicator for camera remains “in use” when the users are just browsing the feed.

A similar issue was found last year with the parent company Facebook, where the users reported that the app opens the camera in the background, without the user’s permission. A simple fix as patched to resolve the issue by Facebook. As per Instagram, they have assured the users that they do not use any images or data from the camera while using Instagram. They are also already working on releasing a patch for the same that will fix the issue immediately. However, after the update to the iOS beta version, many questions have emerged on how the applications installed on our phone are using the data without the user’s permission.

The privacy updates in iOS are revealing a lot of information about such applications. It was earlier found that more than 50 iOS apps access clipboard data in the background, without letting the users know about it. It does pose a real threat to the user’s privacy and information as it is very difficult to know which apps are snooping on users’ data.
