Yahoo to launch its own new budget smartphone.

The last few months have been really busy for smartphone manufacturers where the users have seen a plethora of smartphones being launched by every smartphone brand. In this trend, many new companies have also launched their new smartphone and one among them is Yahoo. Yes, Yahoo Mobile is now getting its own exclusive smartphone, the ZTE Blade A3Y. The handset has been designed as an affordable smartphone and for just $9, packs basic specs and cameras for the user. 

The handset seems to be a perfect option for someone who simply uses the phone to make calls or surf the internet. Yahoo did launch the Yahoo Mobile in March this year, with a new smartphone that looked like a rebranded version of Visible, which was a cheap and basic smartphone. Yahoo also provided a $39 unlimited plan along with the smartphone to make it a complete affordable offering in a package. Since they have been focusing on such affordable smartphones and services, the ZTE Blade A3Y made perfect sense to be the next handset in the line. 

The phone only has 32GB of memory and it has all the streamlined versions of Yahoo apps like Mail, News, Sports, Finance, Weather. Also, if the user signs up for Yahoo Mobile, they will get the Blade A3Y completely free. The phone has a 5.45-inch screen with an HD display and a dual rear camera that has an 8 and 5-megapixel sensor. If you are looking for an affordable backup phone or something that you can use for calling and surfing the internet, then this can be the perfect option for you to buy. 

Google has changed the Gmail logo but did not get the user’s reaction as expected.

Google has been revamping its logos for all types of online services lately. Now, they have finally changed the classic Gmail logo that we are so used to seeing. The logo has been changed after 7 long years. The older logo showed a letter symbol for the email services, but now the new logo is a letter M which has been made of four colors very specific to Google, which are blue, red, green, and a pop of yellow. However, not everyone has been able to make a change in the same way. 

A lot of emotions erupted from the users, who are missing the nostalgic logo of Gmail they were so used to seeing all these years. After the logo was changed, Google received many complaints related to the new logo where people preferred having the same old logo for Gmail. Few users also believe that the change has killed productivity while using Gmail, and some believe that the logo is one of the worst this year. As per Google, “It is minimalist and that Google has changed most of their logos over the years. Maybe it was about time.”. 

The last change in the Gmail logo happened in 2013 and over a period of seven years, users noticed a lot of changes in the logo of Google services, but not Gmail. The white envelope with red borders is still one of the best logos for Gmail as per some users. Users might not be happy with the change, but it has been done and it seems like users will slowly get used to the new look.

Apple finally hits 1 billion iPhone activations.

Apple has been trying to increase its markets in different parts of the world. With the same view, the company has also launched its online retail website in India. Due to similar launches and more focus on the promotion of their iPhone, the company has finally reached 1 billion activation on its popular iPhone series. The company launched its first iPhone in 2008 and since then they have never looked back. 

The popularity of the iPhone has been increasing every year, leading more and more people to adopt the iOS ecosystem. However, in the last two to three years, the number of new iPhone users have decreased, and also the number of users who have upgraded from the previous version. While the sales have been dipping, it is expected that the sales will rise again for the company, and will reach a number of 250 million sales in Q4. One of the major reasons why people select to buy an iPhone is the camera technology, which is one of the best in the smartphone industry. 

It has also led to a prediction that the company will take much less time to reach the 2 billion mark. One reason for slow sales could be the high prices for the device which has been increasing every year with the launch of new iPhones.No matter which price they launch the iPhones at, the product still has one of the largest fan-following for the brand and device. With the device activation crossing 1 billion, it is a big achievement for Apple.

GTA 5 will be coming on PS5 and Xbox series X with new improvements and features.

GTA or Grand Theft Auto has not only been one of the oldest running game franchises but also one of the most popular in the gaming industry. The game was developed by Rockstar Studios and to date has been one of the most played games of all time. After the announcement of a new generation of consoles from Playstation and Xbox, the gaming studio is all set to bring new graphic improvements to the game to make it even more engaging. GTA V which is the currently running game for the franchise was released on PS# and XBOX 360 in 2013, and the game has since been optimized for PS4 and Xbox One. 

However, with the emergence of new generation consoles, the company will be doing it yet again. They are adding a lot more changes and optimization to the game, to make it better for Playstation 5 and Xbox series X. The changes have not been disclosed yet, but we can expect improved rendering distances, a big resolution bump, and better graphics. The game could also include a lot of new features like activities, vehicles, weapons, improved graphics on wildlife, landscapes, and a lot more.

 With the powerful capabilities of the new generation console, the company will be able to bring in a lot more but will not be launching any earlier than the year 2021. However, once the game is developed and optimized for the new generation of consoles, it will be a completely new experience to play with.

App Store purchases to get costlier in India and five other countries.

All those iOS users who have been purchasing the apps and services through Apple App Store would need to pay a lot more in the future. Apple has announced the price of in-app purchases and apps on the App Store are about an increase in India and five other countries including Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Russia, and South Africa. The increase in the rates will reflect the new equalization levy of two percent in addition to the existing 18 percent goods and services tax.

An equalization levy is a form of direct tax that the government introduced in 2016 with the intention of taxing the foreign tech companies on revenue accrued via digital transactions. While it was implemented in April 2020, the government had levied a 2 percent equalization levy on e-commerce operators under section 165A. Once the changes are being implemented, they will be visible in the Apple Developer portal in the Pricing and Availability section of My Apps.

It is unclear if the same changes will be made to the other services from Apple in India, like Apple Music, Apple TV+ and iCloud, and their subscription rate. For now, it is expected that the changes will only be there for App store purchases. Apple will be informing their customer when the policy change is implemented and prices are updated. Apple has also provided the developers with new price tiers so that they can have an idea about what the pricing will be for the new apps. The last update to App Store price has been in 2017.

Apple acquires another startup working on AI technology for video searches.

Apple has been very interested in any company that has been working on AI and associated tech. A few months back, the company purchased the rights for one such company and now they have done it again by acquiring an AI technology startup for video searches. It is yet another acquisition by the tech giant in the artificial intelligence category industry. The company they have acquired is Barcelona-based startup Vilynx Inc in a deal completed for around $50 million. 

In a statement to Bloomberg, Apple stated that “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans”. The company Vilynx is working on advanced artificial intelligence and computer vision technology which can analyze the content of the video and could determine the video’s audio, text, and visual content, then create searchable tags for the video. The technology could be a perfect add-on to their voice assistant Siri and could also enhance their search algorithm. 

The same technology can also be used to improve the experience of the Photos app with better search capabilities. As a part of the deal, Vilynx’s co-founder and chief technology officer Elisenda Bou-Balust will remain at Apple, alongside around 50 other engineers and data scientists. The deal was made earlier in the year and is a part of many such deals that Apple has made this year. It shows that the company is looking out for any kind of new technology and companies that are currently working on it. 

OnePlus watch launch has been delayed imminently.

OnePlus has just released their OnePlus N10 5G and N100 smartphones in the market, which is the part of the Nord series. Along with the smartphones, the fans of OnePlus also expected the company to release a new smartphone which has been rumored for a long time now. However, no other product was introduced by the company. The one most expected product was the OnePlus smartwatch which has been in development for a long while now. A lot of leaks about the watch design and features have already been leaked, but there is still no confirmed date as to when it will be announced or launched. 

Rumors were at the peak, stating that the company will be announcing the watch with the smartphones, but the appearance, the company has delayed the launch of the device. As per the details, the launch of the smartwatch has been delayed indefinitely. While the original launch date for the smartwatch was decided to be in the month of October 2020, it is now confirmed that the launch has been moved forward without any specific date and time.  While there have been many launches this month by OnePlus, it could have been the perfect time for the company to launch its smartwatch. 

However, the delay in introducing it does create confusion in OnePlus fan’s minds, whether the company is ready with the product or are unable to develop a smartwatch, something other companies have been able to work on successfully. Now, the expected launch date from many experts suggests that the watch will launch alongside the OnePlus 9 in the month of March next year.

Microsoft will bring all first-party games from Xbox to PC.

Microsoft is all set to release its next-generation console series X in the market next month and before that, they have been making a lot of announcements related to the category. As per the trend and details, the company is no more dependent on the hardware of the Xbox alone. They are also focused on the games for Windows PC. As per Phil Spencer, they will be bringing their first-party Xbox games to PC and they will not be platform-specific. 

As per his official statement, “If we are shipping a first-party game, it’s coming to PC. If we are shipping the first-party game on PC it’s coming to Steam and our own store.” As per him, Microsoft has been very dedicated to both Xbox and PC gaming and they have been working on PC gaming for a long time. However, in the last couple of years, the focus has shifted more towards console games, giving fewer options for PC users. However, the company will now be giving their best efforts equally to both PC and Console games. 

As per him, Xbox will no longer mean a gaming console and will refer to a place where you can get the Xbox games for yourself. The company is trying to create an ecosystem where the games are not platform-specific for the users and will have games for both PC and console. There will still be exclusive platform games, but most of the games will also be coming to both console and PC.

Samsung might not include a charger and earphones in the Galaxy S21 series.

When Apple released the all-new iPhone 12 series without any earphones and charging brick, a lot of companies took a dig at Apple for doing so. Not only other companies, but even many users were not happy with the decision to not include the charger and earphone. However, it now seems like other companies are also indulging in the same act and Samsung is going to the next one in the line. Rumors have been coming up that Samsung might ditch the bundled charger and earphones in the package for the Galaxy S21 series, which is expected to launch in the month of January next year. 

Although the decision is still pending and not final, it could be a real trend-setting decision if Samsung does finalize it. Samsung has been offering wired earbuds, USB cable, and charging brick with almost all of their smartphones until now, even with the latest S20 series. However, the reason for removing the accessories would definitely be environmental concerns and using a smaller packaging box. It is still not clear if the decision would only be applicable to the premium devices or will it be also applicable to the non-flagship smartphones from Samsung. 

A few days back Xiaomi also took a dig at Apple, showing their new packaging box made from cardboard which is more environmentally friendly and does not need one to remove the accessories. Now it will be interesting to see how Samsung is going to go ahead with this. However, Xiaomi seems to be better where they have used a better packaging box for environmental reasons without affecting the accessories included in the box.

OnePlus N100 and OnePlus N105G launched by the company.

OnePlus N10 and N100 have been a lot in the news lately with a lot of leaks about its specifications and price. However, the company has now finally launched both the models officially in the market. The models that have been added to their mid-range lineup are N10 5G and Nord N100. Both the smartphones have been launched as a more affordable offering than the OnePlus Nord and have some great features, making it a perfect value for money. 

The plus Nord N10 5G comes with a 6.49-inch display and a Full HD+ resolution, along with a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone has been powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690SoC and comes with 6GB of RAM. When it comes to storage, the phone will provide the users with 128GB of storage and an expandable slot. The rear has a quad-camera setup with a 64-megapixel camera, a 119-degree ultrawide, macro, and a monochrome lens. The front gets a 16MP camera for selfies. The N10 also gets a 4,300mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. The phone has been priced at £329 in the UK market.

When we talk about N100, the phone comes with a 6.52-inch HD+ display with a 60Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 460 SoC and comes with 4GB of RAM. The phone will also provide 64GB of memory and a triple camera setup on the rear, where the primary sensor is of 13MP. At the front, the phone gets an 8MP selfie shooter. The phone will also have a bigger battery of 5,000 mAh and an 18W fast charging support. The phone has been priced at £179. There is still no confirmation as to when the phone will be launched in the global market.
