After Microsoft announced the launch of Microsoft Office tools online to counter the service like Google Docs and Sheets, the company is all set to add new features to the platform. As per the announcement from the tech giant, the Microsoft Word online version on the web will get a feature of studio transcription where the recorded conversation and ongoing conversation can be transcribed into text in real-time. The feature will be using the Azure Cognitive Services to make sure that the transcription is done properly without any errors. The features will also be able to detect multiple speakers and provide time-stamped audio to the user.

The feature is very useful for professionals in which they can easily make a transcription about their professional meetings. The feature can also be useful in the cases of interviews and formal meetings. Not only professionals, but the feature is very useful in the current environment of a pandemic where students are attending online classes. The entire audio lecture could easily be transcribed into text and it will help the students to cover topics they have missed. The feature will be available to all users for free who already have Microsoft 365 and currently using Microsoft Word through Microsoft Edge or Chrome browser.

The company has already made clear that the same feature will also be launched to Android and iOS next year. The sidebar on the platform will allow the users to upload an audio file in WAV, MP4, or MP3 format and or record a live conversation to transcribe it into text. Once the text has been transcribed, it can directly be added to the Word Document. Initially, the process will only work with Word in English (EN-US), but as per the success of the tool, the company does not reject the possibility of adding more languages to this tool.

Apart from that, the company has also added a Dictate feature on the web version of Google Docs, which enables the user to speak and convert the voice into text on the document,

Now new leaked images of iPhone 12 Pro Max have been released on the internet which confirms that the phone will have a 120Hz refresh rate, which will further improve the visual quality and the animation and videos will be much smoother.

We all know the launch of the iPhone 12 and other variants has already been delayed by a month due to the unavailability of parts, caused due to production loss in a pandemic. Now with the delayed launch, more and more images and specs seem to be coming out for the device. The new leak for iPhone 12 Pro Max reveals some very important details about the handset. The new iPhone will provide the users with two different options for refresh rate setting, which will be Enable High Refresh Rate and two, Enable Adaptive Refresh Rate. Apple ordered by District court not to close the developer account for Epic Games, Fornite continues to remain off the App Store

In the ongoing feud between Apple and Epic Games, the district court has ordered Apple not to block Epic’s Unreal engine which is used by various apps on the App store. However, the popular game Fortnite remains to be off the App Store. U.S. District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers said Apple can’t retaliate against Epic Games by blocking the gaming firm’s developer accounts or restrict developers on Apple platforms from accessing the widely-used Unreal Engine tools.

The effect of banning the developer’s account will show major damage for both Epic games and other third party developers who are using Unreal Engine. The court also stated that the action on Fortnite is justified as the company did break the rules of the App store, but it did not breach any contracts related to the Unreal engine and developer tools. The court also mentioned that the game Fortnite will remain off the App Store unless the company brings the games in accordance with the App Store rules and regulations, only after which it can be published back on the platform of App Store.

The issue started earlier this month when Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store for using its own payment method, instead of using Apple’s payment platform which also had a 30% commission that Epic had to pay Apple for every in-game purchase. With Apple removing the app from the App Store, the issue spread like wildfire, with Epic Games complaining against the monopoly the App store is having over the market. Many companies like Facebook and Xbox have also come in support for Epic Games and have objected to App Stores’ action against them.

Yet another Windows 10 update is causing a lot of errors and issues for the users where they are facing performance issues with the operating system. The issue is occurring due to this month’s patch cumulative update. The update is causing a lot of performance issues for users as well as Blue screen crash errors. The Windows update KB4566782 was released on August 11, which was reported earlier due to the installation issue, where the users were unable to download and install it using the Windows update. However, in some cases, users were able to install it manually.

Now multiple users are reporting issues where the installed update has produced serious lags in the performance of the system and is also causing the system to crash suddenly. Performance issues faced by the users are system slowdown, increased boot time, lower fps counts in games, external hard drives not working, and slow File Explorer. Also, many users have been facing an issue where the screen immediately freezes and then responds after a couple of seconds. The screen will freeze when you try to run any kind of application or open a folder.

There is currently no solution for this from Microsoft, but a safeguard to this problem until it is resolved is that one should remove the update from the settings and pause the automatic updates till the time the issue has been resolved. It will make sure that the buggy update is not installed on the operating system and you can use it normally until a working patch arrives from Microsoft.

The requirement of higher internet speeds have been increasing day by day as the size of workable files, graphic and media are also increasing. In the same effort, a team of researchers from University College London (UCL), led by Dr. Lidia Galdino, have together broken the world record for the fastest internet speed with two other companies. The data transmission speeds reached up to 178 terabits per second which are around 178 million megabits in a second.

According to the university, the maximum speed can download the entire library of Netflix in approximately one second. As per the team, the speed attained is almost double the capacity of any system that is currently being used in the world. The transmission was done through different colors of light or wavelengths, providing a wider scope than optical fiber. The bandwidth that the researchers used was 16.8THz, which is much more than 9THz which is used more commonly. A lot of advanced hardware and software is used for the same including amplifier technologies to boost the signal over a wider bandwidth.

The team used Geometric Shaping (GS) constellations which used different combinations of light brightness with signal patterns to find the best possible combination for data transfer. The team also emphasized on the fact that this setup could also be run using the current hardware and infrastructure. The only thing that would be required is the upgrade to the amplifiers located on the optical fiber routes at intervals of 40-100 km.

The year has been really bad for the digital security sector as a number of hacking attempts to major platforms were discovered one after the other. Hacking of social media accounts to the leak of user data for millions of users, this year has seen it all. Now it seems that even the Google ecosystem is not untouched by the same. If you are working and relying totally on the Google ecosystem, then this might not be good news for you.

The last few months have been a boom for Google services as people have been using the online tools to work from home and share their work experience. Google even decided to provide Google Meet for free during the pandemic, which was a paid service in GSuite. With the increase in the number of users and active engagement for Google services, it came as a perfect opportunity for hackers to steal the data and create havoc among all. Security researchers have found that a bug in Google Drive can be used to swap out the legitimate files with malicious ones.

The bug is majorly a threat for people who are currently working from home in the time of the pandemic. The bug was discovered by A. Nikoci, who claims that the bug is caused by Google Drive’s failure to check different versions of files stored on the cloud. It allows the hackers to swap normal files in favor of malicious ones and it cannot be detected as Google drive will read it as an updated version. Google drive also does not detect whether the file replaced is the same type or not, making it easier for hackers to replace any type of file.

The issue has been notified to Google, but as of now, the bug remains unresolved. Until then the users need to be aware of any unexpected changes to their Google drive. Do not run or open a file from the Drive if you do not recognize it.
