Xiaomi takes a jibe at Apple for not including the charger in the package.

After the new iPhone 12 series was announced, the biggest change in the packaging of the iPhone was no inclusion of earphones and charger. While this was done due to environmental reasons, as per Apple and making their device environment friendly, not everyone supported this change from Apple. One of the smartphone companies to show this was Xiaomi. The company has been making a similar change without the removal of a charger or case by simply changing the packaging box from plastic to Cardboard.

It would simply result in 60% less plastic, which is going to be more environmentally friendly. This was taken as an opportunity by Xiaomi to remind people how Apple is making a bad decision for iPhone users. It’s not only iPhone 12, but the company has also decided to remove the earphones and chargers from the older version of the iPhones as well. As per them, it was done to reduce its carbon footprint in multiple ways, including in the transportation of lighter retail boxes. However, the company still continues to provide the USB Type-C to Lightning cable with iPhone 12 units only.

Xiaomi was the first company to poke Apple for the decision and has highlighted the fact that reducing plastic wastage in smartphone packaging can also be done without removing the charger. It is something many Apple fans also agree to as the cost of the charging bricks itself has been placed at more than $60 and more. This might be a great step as per Apple, but companies are not letting this opportunity go to make customers realize that this was a bad decision from Apple.

Apple has reportedly faced a lot of issues in the iOS 14 for iPhones after the release. However, the immediate release of iOS 14.1 did patch up almost all kinds of issues in the smartphone, with a few of them still remaining. Just hours after the update iOS 14.1 was released by Apple, they are now releasing the 14.2 update beta for developers. The beta update will be available to the developers via an over-the-air update in the Settings app.

It might be possible that you will not see the update almost immediately, but you will be able to see it in a couple of hours. The new beta update brings a lot of improvements and optimization to iOS 14, such as revamped playing controls on the lock screen when you are playing music on your smartphone. Also, there will be new AirPlay 2 controls in the Control Center. Another major update will be the brand new Shazam toggle, which the user can access from the Control Center.

The iOS 14.2 beta 4 update would bring a lot of changes, however, not all of the updates and changes are yet announced. One of the expected changes is the 10-bit HDR support in the Photos app and Intercom for HomePod. Since HomePod is a new device that is launched by Apple, we can see a lot of new features that will help to control the device. Apart from that expect a lot of new exciting things in your iPhone until the final update is released.

MagSafe is undoubtedly one of the most highlighted features in the iPhone 12 series and it brings a lot of new innovation and features which can be based on how Apple uses the accessories in the future. Many companies apart from Apple are already offering users with MagSafe cases and accessories. The mechanism of the MagSafe charging is simply based on the ring of magnets that are attached to the rear of the iPhone. Due to this, it will be able to stick the wallet, cases, wireless charging pads, and docking stations to the iPhone.

The MagSafe features were said to be exclusive for Apple phones, however, the feature is now visible working in non-Apple phones as well. Since the wireless charging MagSafe charger works on the magnets in the iPhone 12 series, the same was noticed in Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 as well. It seems that the Samsung phone uses Magnet to close the flap of the phone and keep it together. Due to this, the Magsafe charger automatically connects to the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 and starts charging the phone.

However, when the charger connects to the iPhone, you can be assured that it won’t come off, but Samsung will with a little shake. The max charging speed that the MagSafe charger can provide to the Apple phones is at 15W and what was observed on the Samsung phone was only half of it. The same was also tried on Google Pixel 5 and it was able to hold on to the MagSafe charger. It would be interesting to see which other phones stay compatible with the MagSafe charger.

In 2016, Google launched its popular app Trusted contact, which allowed the user to share their location and device activity with certain content on their phone. The app was available for both Android and Apple customers. However, the company has now announced that it will stop support for the app after December 1. Before this, Google also stopped the support for Google Latitude and Google+ Location Sharing, which provided some similar features to the users.

In an e-mail to “The Verge“, the company said that, “Over three years ago, we launched the Trusted Contacts app as a way to help people stay up to date with their loved ones’ whereabouts. Since then, we’ve built this functionality directly into Google Maps with Location Sharing – making it even easier to share your live location with trusted friends and family“. They also added that “As a result, the Trusted Contacts app will be removed from the App Store and Play Store today and will stop being supported after December 1, 2020. If the app is installed on your device, you can continue to use it until then.

If you have created trusted contacts, you can download them from the trusted contacts page until December 1, 2020. After that date, the Trusted Contact app will no longer work and your trusted contacts will be unable to see the live location you are sharing with them from the app,“. Google has been trying to integrate multiple of its products into a single app and using the same principle, they have added the same features to the Google Maps apps. It is the major reason why they do not this that Trusted contact need to co-exist along with that.

Windows 10 updates seem to be installing bloatware without users’ permission.

One of the most irritating things for a user on their device is bloatware. It not only consumes extra storage space on the device but also makes your system run slower as they are programmed to run from the time the device starts up. It is something we all have witnessed on our smartphones till now, but it seems that you would now be experiencing it on the Windows operating system. The recent Windows 10 update on covertly installs progressive web apps (PWA) for Microsoft Office apps without asking for permission. The update will install Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook web-based apps.

These are not standalone apps, but shortcuts to the web version of Microsoft Office and can be accessed using a browser. Many users have raised a complaint that the operating system restarted while installing the new web apps and did not ask for any kind of permission for the user while doing so. Since these web apps are shortcuts to the web applications for Microsoft Office, you will have to Sign In to your Microsoft account to access them.

The one good thing about it is that you can easily uninstall it, in case you do not want it on your system. One way is to go to the Control Panel>> Programs and Features. There you will be able to remove the programs from the list easily. Also, you can go to  Settings App > Apps & Features page to remove the web app shortcuts. Users are really disappointed by this update from Microsoft and consider this as disrupting the customer’s ownership.

Apple watches SE was released a few weeks back by the tech giant Apple along with the Apple Watch 6 series. Apple watches SE was considered to be one of the most affordable watches from the company with the latest features and faster performance. However, soon after the launch of the watch, users started to face a few issues. A recent issue that has been reported by the Apple SE watch owners is related to overheating.

As per the users in Korea, the overheating issues were found in the areas above the display connector, between the Taptic Engine and Digital Crown. The heating issue also caused a yellow spot on the Apple screen, which was witnessed by many users. Some users have observed the heating issue only while charging the Apple Watch SE, where the watch was working perfectly otherwise. However, many other users of the device were facing the issues to an extreme level, where they could feel a burning sensation on their hand while using it.

Currently, there have been six such users who have reported the issue and out of those, three have already received a refund for the same. However, they are also expecting Apple to provide a personal response on the same. The issue seemed to come for a small batch of Apple SE watches that have been produced specifically for the market of South Korea. It might be a specific hardware issue, and if it is, we can expect Apple to call off the entire batch that had this problem.

Samsung regains the top spot again while Huawei drops down 16%.

A few months back Huawei claimed the top spot in a quarter as the market leader of Smartphones, bringing down Samsung from the place, which is used to rule for a long time. Now it seems that Samsung has jumped back in the top position as of August 2020 and Huawei has started suffering from the losses it is having due to the removal of android from its smartphones. Samsung jumped by 22% in the global market share for a smartphone in August, while Huawei dipped down by 16%.

Such a huge drop for Huawei was expected as the company has been suffering and struggling to keep up their smartphone sales after the support for the Android operating system has ended on their smartphones. Samsung lost its position in the month of April as the initial lockdown in many countries and the hit from the pandemic lead to a huge drop in manufacturing. The company did seem to make an initial recovery a couple of months later as markets like India rebounded and recovered from the lockdown.

Also, since Chinese products are not being accepted globally now, Samsung was able to seize the market share for them as well. However, it is not the only reason for Huawei’s market share has been dropping. Companies like Xiaomi have also been able to increase their market share, which also includes the existing users of Huawei. Also, the increasing share of many other smartphone companies has lead to a huge decline for Huawei.

It has only been a few days since the OnePlus 8T has been launched in the global market, providing a massive performance boost over the last generation. Now the company is already working on their next-generation smartphone, the OnePlus 9. The details were leaked by one of the tipsters called Max J, who provided the side look of the new smartphone and the codename “Lemonade“. The image was shared on Twitter and the image shows the two sides of the device.

If we just look at the image, the design would be entirely different from what we have been observing till now in the OnePlus smartphone. It seems that the top and bottom will have sharp edges, while the sides of the phone will be curved in design. The image does not reveal a lot of details, as apart from the two sides, you will not be able to know anything else. The details are not entirely new as similar information was leaked out by XDA-developers a month back, where they confirmed that the company is working on new smartphones with codename lemonade, lemonadet, lemonadev, and lemonadep.

From what the speculations are right now, we can expect the new OnePlus 9 next year with the new Snapdragon 875 chipset, which will be introduced by the end of this year. It should also support a much faster-charging technology with an OnePlus 9 and a 9 Pro model. The company is expected to release the new model in April next year with entirely new features.

Micromax made an announcement a few days back, that it will be re-entering into the Indian smartwatch market again and this time it is going to launch a new smartphone with premium features and affordable prices. The new specs and images of the smartphone named it as Micromax IN. The move has been made at a time when the Indian government is looking for companies to shift to “Make in India” and “Atma Nirbhar Bharat“.

The maximum volume of sales for the Indian smartphone market is under the Rs 10,000 range and the Rs 10k-15K range. It is one of the most aggressive ranges of price and Micromax will surely love to work their way around this area of focus. The Indian government has been trying to remove the dependence of the Indian market from Chinese manufacturing and products and providing PLI to companies like Micromax is a great way to do that. Micromz “IN” phones will be a part of the plan where the company is expecting to invest more than Rs 500 crores to develop and manufacture phones in India.

Currently, they have two manufacturing units in India located in Bhiwadi and Hyderabad. As per the company, these plants can manufacture 2 million phones in a month. Micromax already has a big retail presence in the Indian market, which would allow them to get a boost in sales that is required when you come back to the market after a long time. It sure will be a great way for Micromax to go and everyone is expecting them to provide the information about their new smartphone.

AMD has been developing new technologies and bringing out new innovations to its chipset design. Recently, the company has been working on its all-new Zen 3 mobile chipset which is not only smaller but will also be providing great performance to the user. Earlier, the Ryzen 5000 series of CPUs only provided single-threaded performance in desktop chipsets. However, the new leaks have shown that a new mobile chip is on its way. The new Zen 3 APUs will soon be coming in laptops under the Ryzen 5000 product lineup.

The specs that have been leaked suggest that the mobile chip will be based on Ryzen 5 5600U and based on APU codenamed Cezanne. It will be a six-core part and will have a 2.3 GHz base clock and 4.2 GHz boost. The new series of the chipset will be low power and will slot into the same sort of 15W TDP that Intel’s ultraportable CPUs occupy. It was also leaked that the chipsets will be having integrated graphics with seven Vega compute units, which will work up to 448 stream processors clocked at relatively high 1.8 GHz.

With the new series of chipset, one can expect much faster performance than the previous generation. Although these are just rumors right now, the company is expected to launch the new chipset in a couple of months. Also, we can expect the company to come out with a lot more new announcements as they have already been working on new chipset technologies.
