Mozilla Firefox has been one of the most popular browsers for both mobile devices and computers, with the maximum emphasis on security and data privacy. However, a new bug in Mozilla has been discovered which lets you hack nearby mobile browsers via WiFi. the bug was first discovered by Chris Moberly, an Australian security researcher working for GitLab. As per him the problem actually lies in the Firefox SSDP, which is Simple Service Discovery Protocol. It is a process or mechanism through which Firefox finds other devices on the same network in order to share or receive content.

When the devices are found, this Firefox SSDP gets the location of the XML file, which has all the details about the device configuration. The older version of the browser could hide the intent commands in XML and have the Firefox browser execute the “intent,” which could be a regular command. Now, this vulnerability could be easily used to hack into someone’s device and get access to it. However, the researcher Chris Moberly did confirm that the vulnerability was reported to Mozilla earlier this year.

The issue did not impact the Firefox browser that was running on a desktop or laptop, but it did affect the mobile devices and smartphones. Mozilla claims that the issue has already been fixed and now only exists in the older version. Therefore, it is recommended to update the browser immediately on the smartphones, which will resolve the issue. The latest version on which the user should update to is V79 for Android.

Google has just announced a major update for Google Drive users. Just like Gmail, Google has also revised the number of days in Google Drive, after which your deleted files will be removed. The new policies and changes indicate that all the files in the drive that have been deleted for more than 30 days, will be completely removed once the deadline crosses. Currently, there is no such policy by Google on the trashed files and they remain in the bin for an indefinite time.

However, after October 13, 2020, the new policy will take effect and any file added to the trash bin will be removed permanently. The same change was easier implemented on Gmail as well and then it finally has been implemented on the drive feature. The reason behind the change is to ensure that behavior is consistent and predictable for users across G Suite products, and will help make sure that items users trash is actually deleted as expected.

Once the users use the delete function after the change, they will be made aware of the feature through a banner that will be displayed on their screen. Admins can still restore items deleted from a user’s trash for up to 25 days for active users. Now the change in the feature will not only help Google to recover a lot of space on the server but will also make sure that the data which is deleted by the users is completely and properly deleted from the drive and server.

From the last few months, WhatsApp has been trying to add more features and features that increase the security of the app. This time, the latest beta update for the app shows that a fingerprint authentication will be added for the web companion app. The code was found by WABetaInfo related to enhanced security for the companion app in the 2.20200.10 build of the latest WhatsApp beta.

The web companion app is basically a way for users to use WhatsApp on the PC, Mac, or Browser and send or receive messages. Right now, it is activated or done through scanning a QR code on the WhatsApp mobile application. Using WhatsApp Web on the browser is completely different from the one that you use on the PC or Mac. Now as per the new feature, you will have to scan your fingerprint before you create a new session on the web browser. Unless you scan the fingerprint on the mobile device, the new session will not be created.

Also, it is still not confirmed if WhatsApp is adding Face Unlock along with fingerprint unlock in the update. There is no security on whether the fingerprint feature will replace the QR code feature or both will co-exist. However, it is clear that WhatsApp is going to make the app much more secure for the users as they use the same on multiple platforms at one time. Also, it would be a great feature at the time their new feature of using the same profile on multiple devices is launched.

The all-new Apple’s A14 Bionic SoC was spotted in AnTuTu, which is going to be the chipset used in the all-new iPhone 12 series. Infact, all the new products that will be released later this year including the new iPad range, will have Apple’s A14 Bionic SoC chipset. The chipset is said to take on all the premium flagship devices this year and is supposed to provide much better performance than other chipsets in the category. As per the information that was provided by tipster Ice Universe, the AnTuTu scores of the A14 Bionic chip was revealed on the upcoming Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The scores on the A14 chipset was 572,333, which seems to be much lower than the score of Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus-powered Asus ROG Phone 3’s 629,245. The 865 chipsets are overclocked on the Asus ROG Phone, but even the normal 865 processor on other phone scores more than the A14 Bionic chipset. In the past, Apple has been able to overcome Qualcomm in chipset and provided a much higher performance. However, this time it’s a major win for Qualcomm over Apple’s chipset.

The only thing that remains in suspicion is that the iPhone 12 Pro Max was not running the final version of Apple’s software, which can further improve the performance of the chipset with optimization. However, it could only be known when the phone is launched and the retail version for the same is tested for scores again.

Paytm app removed from Google Play Store.

Just a few hours ago, it was revealed that Google Playstore has removed the Paytm app from its platform. It came as a surprise to the Paytm users as it happened without any notification to the users or the company. This immediate removal of the application created a lot of questions in the mind of users and the reasons behind the removal. Although the Paytm app was removed, Paytm business, Paytm Mall, Paytm Money, Paytm Mall Store Manager, and Paytm Instore Manager are still available on the Google Play Store. It meant that only the wallet app of Paytm was removed from the platform

Since Paytm has millions of users who use it for cashless transactions, the removal of the app became big news in hours. Later it was found that the app was removed for violating Play Store’s policy on sport betting activities, as confirmed by Google itself. The app was directly and indirectly linked with betting platforms that were using Paytm for betting, ahead of the IPL tournament. Due to this, the app was removed from Playstore, however, it will not cause any issue to the users using the app. The message from Paytm was “It will be back very soon. All your money is completely safe, and you can continue to enjoy your Paytm app as normal.”

Since Google does not allow any kind of casino apps and unregulated gambling apps, they removed the Paytm app when it was found that the app leads consumers to an external website that allows them to participate in paid tournaments to win real money or cash prizes. Although people can still use the app installed on the phone, if the issue is not resolved by Paytm, it can lead to termination of the developer’s account on Google Play. We hope that Paytm soon resolved the issue and is available on the Google play platform.
