Qualcomm is one of the most popular chipsets that is used in maximum Android phones in the market. The chipset is known for its excellent performance and the immense resource reusability, which makes it a great chipset for low, medium, and high range smartphones. Recently the security researchers at Checkpoint discovered over 400 security vulnerabilities in Qualcomm’s chip which could lead to a major security thread among three billion Android phone users.

The flaw was found in the Qualcomm’s Digital Signal Processor (DSP) chips. The DSP in the chipset provides optimized performance for features like quick charge, multimedia experience, AR and audio, etc. As per the research team, the smartphone using these chipsets can be turned into a spying tool with any interaction with the user.

It can also lead hackers to access details like calls, messages, location data, etc. The research team has not disclosed any kind of technical details on the issues that have been discovered but has updated the relevant authorities and smartphone companies about it.

As per them, many mobile vendors have started working with the research team to collectivity work on the issue. Qualcomm on the other hand has identified these issues and has patched the smartphones with updates. More such security updates will be released by the company in the future and the research team will keep looking for more such issues if discovered. The only precaution that has been related is to download and install the Android application from Google play store and not any other third-party source.

Android phones are great when it comes to customization and a lot of features. However, the operating system does have a certain amount of flaws that does decrease the user experience. One of such issue is bloatware, which is added to the stock phone by smartphone manufacturers. Bloatware are company installed apps out of which only a few can be removed completely and some cannot. However, with time smartphone manufacturers did understand the problem and now the number of bloatware on smartphones has reduced by a lot.

Also, this bloatware now has an option to remove them completely from the phone. A similar situation is now faced by OnePlus smartphone users where it has been reported that the phone is coming with OxygenOS bloatware, which the smartphone company is doing with Facebook. The latest OnePlus 8 and Nord come with pre-installed Facebook app and associated background services. The customer now has to deal with the Facebook app and its background services which keep running and consuming resources.

Also, unlike other smartphones, the Facebook app is updating through the Facebook app manager service instead of the Google Play Store. This case is totally new for users as the Facebook app and services do consume a lot of RAM and resources which could bring a log in performance. When other OnePlus phones were checked it was found out that all come with apps and services from Facebook and are a part of Oxygen OS, rather than an individual app. As per the company, installing such apps in the phone before they are sold, helps in better battery performance.

However, such kinds of bloatware apps are not taken well by the consumers as first they keep consuming internet data in the background and since they are a part of the OS, they auto-update in the background and get access to information about the user without them knowing about it.

The feature was in development for the last few months after making it available to all iOS users in the latest update. Twitter believes that unwanted replies to any tweet make the conversation less meaningful. Therefore, the user will have three options to select from, Everyone, Only People you follow, Only people you mention. If the user selects the last two options, then the tweet will be labeled, and the reply icon will be grayed out for people who are not allowed to reply as per the settings.

However, it won’t barge the users from viewing, Retweeting, liking the tweet, and adding comments on it. Before the feature was released, all tweets went to the default setting of “everyone can reply,” but now the user can select one of these options and select the people who are allowed to reply on the tweet. It is also a great feature, who fear that people with unknown identity often send threatening messages and replies on the tweet. There is currently no information on whether the feature will be available for Android or not.
